Your individual skills do not matter

What matters is if the product space you work for brings in the amount of money that Broadcom wants. If your product is not a product used by any major customer, you're out. When the offers were rolled out at CA, many of the individual decisions... — read more

The guessing game

The last sales all hands gave a lot of useful information but the process is now leaving everyone hanging. There are sales engineers in EMEA that have broad experience across multiple solutions and no concentration on one. If the selection... — read more

Cyber Security Services

Does anyone have a theory on whether Cyber Security Services (CSS) will make it to Broadcom? This includes MSS, Intelligence, and Incident Response. It is not a traditional “franchise”, but is the core of many company Tier 1 security functions. .. — read more

Broadcom shares

When been made a stay offer during an acquisition, do Broadcom offer any initial stock during the offer stage - such as RSU’s? How often does it occur that RSU’s are issued/promised and an employee is terminated before the RSU’s vest - and... — read more

Symantec to Lay off 4,200

Here is the math: 10,700-4,000-2,500=4,200 Here is how it adds up: 10,700 Employees today - 4,000 moving to BCOM - 2,500 in Consumer = 4,200 without positions (all will be laid off)

How many are left to be laid off?

The numbers I've seen mentioned here range from 2000 to 4000, which is a significant difference. Does anybody know the actual number? Or will we just have to guess until all the layoffs are finally done - whenever that might be in the following four+... — read more

What will happen to consulting / services?

I heard that Broadcom does not want to make the same mistake with services again. It does not want to push services to HCL this time. Is this what Broadcom's management is stating internally?

Transition info

The transition will follow the CA model. Which means middle managment will be cut. Any manager that will be retained will be informed before the offer letters are send out. Employees will fall into 3 buckets, term, transition or stay. Depending on... — read more

Broadcom Comp plans for sales?

Does anyone know what sales people (Account Managers and Sales Engineers) can expect from Broadcom in terms of compensation packages? I keep reading about bonus and RSU’s so does that mean the Broadcom Sales teams don’t have a commission based... — read more

And what happens after the merger? (Speculation)

You learn there isn't much of a Broadcom culture or a plan You are just one product among many. You will be working harder than ever all for that restricted stock and bonus.

Severance

Since there is a lot of chatter in sub messages, so I decided to create a new post with right title and leverage information shared earlier. Three Category of Folks - as it relates to Severance: People who do not receive an offer of... — read more

Hope it works out for everyone.

When they were trying to buy CA everyone said that the US government won’t allow it to happen... It did. Hock Tan laid off 6,000 people - around 2,000 divested to PE and Indian Firms and around 3,000 remaining with Broadcom. The deal... — read more

The deal will never close

Broadcom = Hock Tan = Chinese Gov Symantec = Security = US Gov Things are not compatible here. Hock Tan will be stopped just like he was stopped when he went after Qualcomm.

Symantec Announcement - Whats next for EMEA employees ?

Hey just off a call about the acquisition, anyone any idea what our future holds? Can a company come in and just continue to employee us under their contracts or will we be given the option of taking a redundancy?

Symantec Federal Sales

All of Symantec federal has over the past two years been replaced by clueless Blue Coat counterparts, This impacted everyone - from top executives to talented sales staff, all gone....

So who gets what's left?

After the dust settles, assuming enterprise goes to Broadcom, what happens to what's left? I can't see Symantec surviving on its own, so acquisition has to be the plan. But who? Anyone want to make a guess?

Things will get better

I went thru this saw last march, and it was sad. It was my first layoff and shock of my life. But what is important is to express and let lose yourself and bring those feeling out. You have been successful and worked for a great company, time to... — read more

Is anything happening?

Has it started yet? Where there any meetings scheduled for first thing in the morning? Any info would be appreciated.

No meeting, no layoff?

I see people mentioning they know they are being let go today because they already have meetings scheduled. Does this mean those of us who don't have anything scheduled for today or Friday can consider ourselves safe? Or is that just my wishful... — read more
