The transition will follow the CA model. Which means middle managment will be cut. Any manager that will be retained will be informed before the offer letters are send out. Employees will fall into 3 buckets, term, transition or stay.
Depending on where you are based, the timings will vary. Usually, US, Australia and APJ will be informed first, and then EMEA.
If you do not have a product related position, expect to be cut. At Broadcom, there are no redundant positions. They will cut down to the bare minimum they have to retain to keep the business running.
At CA, that meant about a third were cut immediately, a third were put on transition and the rest received stay offers. Also, depending on the function there might be a third option which is being outsourced to another company, at CA HCL took over the Services employees.
In terms of job functions that meant that nearly all product staff were retained as either stay or transition, but departments like Marketing, Communications and Training will be gone immediately. HR was cut with only a few on transition, same for Legal.
