Declined Intel Offer

Intel made an offer and I declined. The macro economic headwinds may impact Intel in the near future, with headcount reductions and other measures. I hope I made the right decision.

Thinking outside the box at Intel

This is perhaps the worst thing an employee here can do to himself because Intel no longer wants those who are able to think outside the box. Does anyone here have any idea why was it once a desirable trait and now it is no longer?

Tired of “passion” in meetings

The only thing that we should be passionate about is delivering a product. I am tired of people being “passionate” about ideas that are not working. We should investigate why an idea isn’t working, but we should not have people so “passionate” about... — read more

Does Intel have a layoff season?

My former company laid people off once a year, nearly always in August, so we knew in advance what and when to expect it. Does Intel have something similar or is it always a different time? I've joined nearly a year ago and I'm yet to see any layoffs... — read more

All of the out of cycle promos and rehires....

A couple of trends. It feels like more people get out of cycle promos vs end of year review promos. In many cases a new manager (friend?) will give the person a promo... that your current manager actually didn’t feel you deserve. I guess one would... — read more

Employees that somehow avoid being laid off

During my 20+ years as an IC at Intel, I witnessed several cases where individuals with dubious work quality and behavior fought negative evaluations with filed claims of harassment by their manager. I’m not sure whether the claims were focused on... — read more

Hiring freeze

I hope the hiring freeze does not spread throughout the entire company. We have been trying to fill a few positions for months with no luck and I know two more people are planning to leave. If we don't get anybody before they leave, we're screwed... — read more

Talent going to competitors

Several of my colleagues who are excellent workers have gone to competing companies. I don't understand how Intel became so weak that it just surrenders its best and most capable employees to the competition so easily. Is leadership powerless to at... — read more

Leave Intel alone, Apple!

https://www.apple.com/macbook-air-m2/ "Compared to Intel-based Macbook Air, 15x performance in video editing." Really, Apple? Clowning Intel now is like Kramer beating up those 8 year-old kids at Karate.

Acquisition of Codeplay Software

Learning culture

It's disappointing to hear that there are people whose managers have rejected their training requests. (Someone complained about that in one of the posts). I must admit, something like that never happened to me, but it seems that Intel is not so... — read more

It's high time Intel invested in its people

Of course, no one will be fully productive and give their best when most see their job at Intel as something temporary. Some stay here for only a few months and then look for better paid jobs. If the company got rid of all the really useless... — read more

Our turn is coming

I've learned so much here

I think the source of all the frustration is that people take some things very personally and still expect everything they do to be noticed, valued and adequately rewarded. On the other hand, my only expectation from day one here was to learn as... — read more

Chimera

The future is uncertain

I discussed this a bit with some close colleagues. Are there many here who think that the future of this company depends on competitors failing? I have a mixed opinion about that.

Retirement scam??

Just out of curiousity, has anyone else been screwed out of their retirement by Intel? :(

The drawbacks of not being a manager's favorite?
