Thinking outside the box at Intel

This is perhaps the worst thing an employee here can do to himself because Intel no longer wants those who are able to think outside the box. Does anyone here have any idea why was it once a desirable trait and now it is no longer?

Thinking outside the box leads to creative new solutions and ideas. That was a positive because Intel had values that promoted challenging the status quo and risk taking, among other great values. I don't know what's happening now... GLTA.
