It doesn’t look to me like there could be significant layoffs in the foreseeable future. Don't take my word for it, it's just my personal opinion.
Still, I hear more and more rumors about layoffs. Are people just anxious or am I missing something?

Assumption is there will be an announced layoff. You won't hear that. It will never be put like that.
What you will see is re-organization with appropriate reductions in headcount. End result will be the same, but without the stigma.
As much as Intel wishes it were a “tech” company, it’s manufacturing. Layoffs at shiny tech companies rarely immediately bell weather manufacturing layoffs.
Pat will not layoff but will sink Intel all the way to bottom. He will exit and collect big paycheck before layoff storm. His only goal is to take Intel to lowest level.
Pat won’t want to do it, but it’s not fully within his control. Tech bubble is very fragile right now, and will lead to layoffs at much better firms than Intel. I would say greater than even odds of a small to medium sized layoff within the next two years.
Macroeconomic conditions are trending very poorly. I wouldn’t discount layoffs anywhere for the next couple of years. In the bad-to-worst case, we could see a worldwide depression in 2023. My faith in world leaders to avoid that outcome is waning…
you are correct- PG is a firm believer in no layoffs and wants folks to be ready for the next tremendous expected expansion and growth -he is a man of faith. Currently, the likelihood of any layoff is a maybe in 2040.
