June 8 (Reuters) - Intel Corp has frozen hiring in the division responsible for PC desktop and laptop chips, according to a memo reviewed by Reuters, as part of a series of cost-cutting measures.

The memo sent Wednesday also outlined other cost-cutting measures such as cancelling some travel for the group immediately, limiting participation in industry conferences and instructions to hold group meetings virtually when possible.

Two weeks makes a difference, there are hundreds of wives and cousins stacked up waiting to collect an Intel welfare check.

Maybe im missing something, if its 2 weeks who cares?

It is only for two weeks and then back to unlimited hiring. Pat is firm believer in hiring, hiring and hiring. He even hired queens/kings fired earlier. So don't worry and collect your fat paycheck from Intel. Definitely don't think about layoff under Pat leadership. Google, amazon or Apple may announce layoff if economy becomes worse but not Intel. We are lucky to have Pat as leader of Intel and let's suck blood as much as possible.

Obviously they will spin the hiring freeze as a way to prevent layoffs. But we know what's in store for Intel: more traffic to this site.

With the huge presence of HR in this forum, I wonder what they're going to post to defend this.
