TC will find way to keep GF surviving

I see majority of posts saying GF will not survive .. I still need stay in GF as daughter is going in senior high school year and I want to stay at least one more year if GF can survive . Here are my arguments GF was almost closing in 2014 but... — read more

Not a single successful development at GF

We were really lucky that Samsung licensed their 14 nm to us and we are surviving since 2014 while running their borrowed technology to AMD, QCOM, Marvell , Mediatech and few others. Thanks to Samsung. Now what next ? We do not have a single... — read more

Better sooner than later

I'm not gonna lie that I'm not glad that I survived and that I have a chance to look for a new job while I still have a job, but on the other hand, if it's true that the package for those who are laid off in the next round will not be as good as... — read more

So all the 22nm, 12fdx and photonics is being back burnered. I've been here a long time and GF hasn't created a new product on its own.

So was told we will be slowing all the 12fdx, 22nm and photonics to make room for overflow from other gabs. We failed 20nm, 14nm where we then had to buy Smasungs tech, which is why we're are still in business. 7nm was as we know a Complete and utter... — read more

It will get better

I've been where some of you are right now. I know well how much it hurts to lose a job you love and how difficult it can be to keep your head up and keep moving forward when it feels like there's no end in sight. But once I left GF, I realized... — read more

I survived but clearly the layoff has created enough irreparable damage that Will be more than enough to sink the GF. I am already applying and so are my peers. No motivation to stay. All the bad and incompetent managers who are a-s lickers survived... — read more

If TC coached the Yankees

Great year team, we won the world series, but no rings cause we may not win next year. But we'll have to ax some of you older fellas who got us here cause we expect you to grow a bit older during the off season.

We are looking at a short reprieve, not a full stop

This round will finish up by tomorrow morning. My guess is the next round will be early Q2 2023. This right here. I don't see anything happening for the remainder of the year or early in 2023 after this round is wrapped up. But we are far from... — read more

Reason for layoff

I would have preferred that they didn't give me any reason for cutting me, than the explanation I got which makes no sense and which only frustrated me even more. I am very self-critical, but what was stated as the reason for layoff is absolute... — read more

The main criteria

I am trying to figure out who are the most vulnerable employees. Long-timers? New hires? The most talented ones? Slackers? I hope that the most at risk are not the best employees who should be retained at all cost.

There are better opportunities out there

I feel sorry for everyone who was laid off in these difficult times. Being laid off is one of the most stressful moments one can experience. It may not be very comforting, but... most of us can get better opportunities outside of GF. I am still... — read more

Getting cut and leaving with package would be most welcome

I sincerely hope that I will be targeted. Anyone else? I realized that it is not worth staying in a company that treats people like this. What can those who stay here expect in the future? In my opinion, nothing good.

Waiting.

It’s the 12th and another day of no news. GF can’t even get layoffs in a timely manner.

Is it possible to make your job any safer?

I do care about keeping my job here but it seems unlikely that one could make their position any safer regardless of how much the employee is dedicated to their work.

How many are hoping to be laid off?

Be honest. Personally, I don't even care that I don't have a job lined up. All I want is severance and to be able to leave this place and never look back. I've got enough experience to know I'll be able to find a new job within a month or two. Even... — read more
