Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

It will get better

I've been where some of you are right now. I know well how much it hurts to lose a job you love and how difficult it can be to keep your head up and keep moving forward when it feels like there's no end in sight.

But once I left GF, I realized something: my mental health improved drastically. I felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I didn't even know how stressed out I was until I was out. My new job has a much better company culture and work/life balance. I'm in a much better position, even if at one time something like that seemed impossible to me. My point is, it really does get better. Just give it some time.

I am better after I left GF. Same feeling. I was able to plan and leave so it was all good.

I was initially disappointed as well. A couple of days later and the realization that I got paid for 6 full months plus 7 months of benefits, I’m already happier and less stressed. It does get better. It’s been nice getting paid and not having to swipe through the turnstile just to commiserate with my coworkers. It’s Friday and snowing lightly, going Christmas Shopping with the family and sleeping in tomorrow. Merry Christmas.

I also realized this as well, management has no concern for your well-being, goalpost raises constantly, intimidates everyone into submission. You really don’t know you have the wool pulled over your eyes until it’s lifted for you.

Thank you for the support. I was disappointed at first being laid off, but realized that yes a weight has been lifted. I don't have to be in that toxic environment anymore brings a relief to me.
