Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Better sooner than later

I'm not gonna lie that I'm not glad that I survived and that I have a chance to look for a new job while I still have a job, but on the other hand, if it's true that the package for those who are laid off in the next round will not be as good as this one... then I'd rather be laid off right away.

How likely is it that the packages for next round will be less generous than the ones now?

@1qkz+1kdCArQa I hear you man. I was shocked to be honest but the more I thought about it, it made sense. I was the highest paid guy in my department and job title. I relocated from another GF site years ago and came in with a different pay scale. I’m glad my fellow coworkers didn’t get hit, a lot those guys have car payments, credit cards, mortgages and families. Get on the ball now with job hunting. I’ve already secured a couple of interviews and will be working shortly. The severance is in my pocket and the awful experience at GF is over! Not looking back! Place is a sh1t show.. hang in there, it’s going to get alot better now that GF is out of your life, I promise✌️a

Lay off hurts and I will not hide that it has created shock and one of the worst holiday experience for me and family. Our whole world is upside down as we were not expecting and wife was laid off last month from her job. What I am really happy is that I am able to finally leave the GF with some cash as morale inside is not conducive for mental and physical health anymore.

I was laid off last 7 nm pivot. Being one of the most experienced employees who worked on three GF sites, when I look back and compare GF with my present company, I can say GF had worst management team who is inferior on every aspect, GF promotes toxic culture and boot lockers to director and VP levels as it does not see merit as criteria for employee promotion. I frankly do not a single good thing to say about GF. Feel like it was just my bad luck they made me start from GF and force me to endure worst possible environment that is not good for physical and mental health.
I was lucky that I was able to switch company due to 7 nm pivot and my mental and physical health has improved dramatically after leaving GF.
I do not care GF and do not bother to waste time on this GF he-l company but wanted to write this post to let my remaining friends know that GF is not a company to stay and grow career. If you missed the package and layoff last week, do not worry as we should see continuous volunteer separation package as GF has no other way to survive Wall Street. Keep looking for job out side GF and take one of the separation packages if they are in effect.
Better start planning as pre planning helps. No one to blame if you close eyes and assume your job is safe in GF.

GF already loosing at major technical challenges such as brilliance .. this happens when you prioritize boot lickers and layoff talents.
Promoting boot kickers to director and VP had expedited the sinking of GF.
Just watch. I am out..

I was impacted. I received 6+ months of full pay. 7 months of total health benefits and my QPB. I already have job interviews lined up. The severance is making possible for me to job hunt while the market is still hiring. I can’t speak to what hiring market will be like during the next round of layoffs in 2023. If you’re unhappy and want change, start looking and applying. Ya never know. One thing is for certain, there will a next round of reductions at GF. GF will struggle to attract new talent for any fab expansions. I will never return to GF, not because the laid me off but rather the way they operate.
