Topics regarding layoffs at Follett

Strange Deposit

Have a deposit into my checking account dated 5/3 named "FOLLET MASTER CASH C&D"... Anyone else who was severed on Monday get this or something similar? Anyone have any idea what this is?

School Admission Views

For those that like their schools, has anyone contacted their schools on the matter? And what has been their response to all this? Is it worth trying to talk to the school about leaving Follett?

It's hard to start over but…

Basically, I'm aware that most people would have left this a long time ago if they weren't afraid to start over. There are better opportunities out there. To those who have lost their job and are looking for a new one in a panic, it may not mean... — read more

Please check you severance package

Hello everyone, Please look at the payment of the severance amount as it could be off by a lot of money. I and others were short on the amount. I don’t want Follett to underpay anyone. Please check and spread the word!

International Worker's Day

It's interesting that Follett picked May 1st (International Worker's Day) to layoff or demote most of their workers.

Fall Rush

All I can say is wait until Fall Rush, these new hires will be like rats jumping off a sinking ship. Fall Rush is not for the faint of heart.

May 1

Good luck to everyone today. Better opportunities are out there.

2 days and then...

Follett and my lazy SM can kma*. No, I didn't make you a "playbook". No, I didn't notify all of our dept contacts about the bookstore changes. You finally have to do your job. I'd say good luck, but I hope your narcissist abusive a-s gets laid off... — read more

No future at Follett

We're a relic of old times and there's nothing that can be done to change that. Anybody who believes Follett will still be standing ten or even five years from now is missing the huge writing on the wall. If you have an opportunity to leave, I'd jump... — read more

May Payroll Budget

Soooo…are they waiting to see what happens May 2nd to give the payroll budget for May? I hear they’re gonna start giving it at least 30 days in advance. 🙄

Scolded for telling the truth!

I was scolded this week for notifying faculty and staff that my associate and I have had our positions eliminated after May 1st. I gave them contact information for our RM and told them if they have any issues, that is who they should contact. The... — read more

Is this really happening next week?

Our RM isn’t talking about next week. We don’t have a Market Leader. Many staff members are gone next week - including SM - and there’s no one to replace her yet. I’ve heard the CM people don’t have equipment to work from home. We were already... — read more

1 week left

Honestly, I’m excited! It’s a huge relief not to have this stress anymore.

Last week

Well this is going to be the last week for many. I know some stores will be losing everyone and that's pretty sad. Bet there's going to be alot of pi---d of Colleges and University's as it's graduation time and it takes alot more than 1 person to... — read more

No help

It's graduation time, time for all the students to come in and get their caps and gowns. Wonder what the schools are thinking when they may not have any staff in their bookstores to help them.

All hopes are in vain

People stay here hoping that things will get better eventually. How is it possible to still have such hopes for this place? It's more likely that the situation could get even worse.

Follett Survivor

I worked for Follet for 10 years. I escaped a few years ago when I saw things headed in this direction, and I am so happy I did. I work for a company now that has received awards for employee satisfaction. This difference is incredible. They... — read more

Nobody should be accepting jobs at Follett

Now that we have started hiring again, I feel both sorry for the people who are joining but also annoyed because if they did their due diligence they would not be accepting a job here. How hard is it to google the company and look around to see what... — read more

It’s called Vulture funding

That’s what JRC does. Google it. They purposely buy failing companies at steep discounts, cut as much of the costs (ie labor, investments in upgrades, etc) as possible to still keep it going and then sell the assets at a handsome profit. So what does... — read more

I am getting whiplash

Life is changing hour by hour. First I get laid off, then wait, we really need you, apply for these jobs, oops you didn’t get that one, you are actually leaving on May 1, wait, the person that you “promoted” just quit, please apply for that job and I... — read more

Hopefully this doesn’t add fuel to the fire…

BUT… I hope all those remaining just don’t give a sh-t. I managed a small store that was dead, thanks to Covid. And realized FHEG, (before the dark times, before the Empire) was on its course to die. I just stopped caring. And I hope you will too. .. — read more

Stores that are losing money

I don't understand how my store is still going strong given how poorly managed it is. It would be interesting to know how many stores are actually just losing money.….

More and more responsibilities.

I think it would be best for me to leave. I don't know how much longer I can last here with the manager trying to add more to my plate almost daily. Perhaps their goal is to burden the employees so much that they leave on their own?

Curious

Anyone else who is finding their jobs that were "eliminated" that are being posted for hire? Doesn't add up to me.

Store Playbook huh..

Finally realized they're gonna be completely lost once everyone leaves I guess

Value for money

All those taking a pay cut, how galling is it to have an Apple Technician paid $20+ an hour to sit on their a$$ all day?!? Meanwhile, you're meant to keep everything running smoothly.

This is the new Follett

What exactly did anyone expect? They bought a flailing company, they weren’t going to just let it continue business as usual. They need to make their investment profitable. Labor, and for YEARS through all of the leadership changes we have been told... — read more

How long do we have left?

It's obvious Follett will not remain standing for much longer, not with the incompetent management we have. But how long do you think we have, realistically, before we turn into the next Sears? My personal opinion is that the company will be... — read more

People who complain about excessive workloads

I do believe that there are those who are overwhelmed with work. But why do you continue to do that? Why do you allow yourself to be drained so much? I understand the fear of losing your job, but everyone should think about their health... — read more

Shame on Follett

Manager that received a pay cut here. I am hoping the upper management reads this. I had to take the cut because I live in a difficult employment area, and the layoff was too risky. Your pay cut is going to mean I live off of Ramen noodles. Nobody in... — read more

Time

I worked for Follett for over 30 years in a variety of rolls from Sales to Management. One of my strengths was operational efficiencies. A core tenant that always served me well was a management concept "If you don't measure it, you can't manage... — read more
