1429 after a few more were added today from HR (they obviously couldn't put them on the official list since we in HR have access to the list). A big chunk will be let go next Tuesday, with another major round next Thursday. Sorry to be the bearer of... — read more
For the best or for the worse?
My opinion, I think it's best for the areas that are up for sale.. East Texas, Midland Basin, Mississipian areas.. Hopefully someone will buy that is willing to drill and recomplete some of these wells in these areas.
If you're reading this, and you're currently working for Devon
Stop worrying about layoffs, and start focusing on how you can add value to the company. My favorite Devon core value is "hire the best people" I started working here last year, I love my job, and the people I work with. We are the best, and will... — read more

Thanks for the heads up Uncle Dave, however, iI feel like I am just waiting for the axe to fall. When will we know something? Am I supposed to sit here in silence and wait until I either get ejected or the end of the first quarter? Double you tee f... — read more

Management fail, first class: @FywX6Rt
OKC will be the next Detroit with the oil bust.

Does anybody know if DO is getting cut? If so, what business units?
Some things we can control, some things we cannot. We can, however, choose how we react...
The world is complicated. The crossroads that we are at today was the culmination of a series of mainly global events set into motion quite some time ago, none of which we have any control over. If we are being honest with ourselves, we know and... — read more

Devon Coffee Shop
Any talk that the Devon coffee shop will close? I love that place.
Will Canada get hammered with another round of layoffs? Its already been hammered by layoffs in 2015. Employee moral already so low.
Going to work everyday is about as demoralizing as going to a funeral
Devon Number of Employees
How many employees do we have? 6k? So, 1.5k cut would eliminate 25% - that would be the largest one time O&G layoff ever (in the history of the industry - percentagewise and affecting Fortune 500 companies)
I guess we are now paying for giving shit to CHK and Sandridge. It ain't so funny anymore.
Our approach is brutal. Announcing that there will be layoffs with no real timeframe etc. wow we will all be very productive while we wait for the grim reaper to walk down the hall. A good friend in HR confirmed that the numbers will be even higher... — read more

Devon Irony

Does anyone know if the layoff announcement with affect Devon Canada?
There's not much about Devon Canada on here. Is there any news there?

People are already starting to disappear. Six people from my floor where just called to HR. I have been told to expect The number to be around 1400 people. This is for all of Devon including the divestiture.
could cut 1000
They could cut 1000 out of the tower and the company wouldn't miss a beat. Way too much fat
