To all of the devon drilling engineers, advisors, and superintendents - after years of taking your BS don't bother applying at any of the service companies because you won't get hired. All we will do is nod politely then file your CV in the trashcan after the door hits you in the ass

Best company for paying invoices was Plains Exploration and Production. They got sucked into the shitty McMoran deal with Freeport McMoran but we even offered a 5% discount on a 15 day pay and they always paid it. Their system sucked to get into because of all the bullshit with ISNET but once you were in and didnt f--- up you were pretty much set.
And who made you the spokesman of all service companies? Sounds like you're the one with issues.
There are good and bad people in every organization...service companies and Devon, alike. Good people will land on their feet at some point. From my experience, Devon has always paid invoices within 30 days on the production side. They have always treated us ethically, and have given us the opportunity to earn their business...not buy it. Again, this is all in production side.
Like any company, some of the HSE guys are zealots which don't always apply common sense to safety...but that's the only complaint I have as a manager in an approved vendor for Devon.
I can't speak for reputation with oilfield companies but Devon is very slow to pay invoices. I have to constantly apologize to vendors and beg for license extensions because invoices go unpaid for months and this is not a new situation it has been happening for years.
Does Devon really have a bad reputation with the service companies? Seriously I'm asking because this is the first time I've heard this. Is it because of the safety focus? Can you give an example of a company or companies that has a great reputation and why? Thanks.
op truly has no clue what hes talking about and will be out of a job when these better qualified candidates come rolling in....
Just out of curiosity, after reading through this post, do you Devon people not realise what a wretched reputation your company and your people have in the oilfield? For us, you were the worst company to work for. You were the slowest to pay invoices. Your people were and are incompetent. Your management made horrid decisions. Your representatives were corrupt. You guys were bottom of the list and at times it seemed you took pride in that. Arrogance? Or you truly didn't care? What was it?
Yeah, there will be life after Devon for their drilling people. Greeters at Walmart, manager of a Pizza Hut, maybe driving a truck. No one in the real oilfield would touch a Devon asswipe!
Uhhuh. House paid for, 4 cars and Harley paid for, 3 kids through university, enough in the 4o1k to pay 100k a year when I retire.... laughing here. Suckered it dick head.
Definition of oil field trash right here folks. I'll bet you're still making payments on that truck and Harley also. Most likely you are an ex service hand who got laid off or fired and is currently collecting unemployment. Difference between us and you is that we can actually get a job outside oilfield. You'll likely spend the downturn shoveling shit somewhere.
Waaa waaa waaa, cry devon drilling people. As you are applying to one of those service companies, remember the times you ran off crews when Billy Bob brought better breakfasts, or sat on a $300k invoice over a $100 charge you disagreed with. By the way, my truck was only $39k, but my Harley was $41k.
As if drilling service companies were hiring lol
F--- you service company f---s with your $50k trucks and high school diplomas...cocksuckers
1,100 views in 90 minutes? Man, is every single Devon employee on this website right now? How about executives?
If you are with a service company, you should be worrrying about your own job. I've worked for oil companies and service companies. There are plenty of jerks with both.
I love it....too many arrogant assholes over there.
What devon drilling people may not realize is that using tools such as salesforce, service companies keep data on every one of their drilling people is kept and is freely available across business segments. Name, position, projects, attitude, minutes of meetings, decisions made, every detail that is deemed useful or important is databased. This info comes back to bite on more occasions than realized
Geez kick a guy while he's down whydoncha
