"Exceeds Expectations"

What percentage of Devon Employees receive the "exceeds expectations" rating each year? What about "fully meets expectations" ?

I am trying to understand Devon's number system because I am certain this will be at a minimum part of how they decide who stays and who goes.

I'm in agreement, numbers don't lie. I out performed many peers but wasn't a favorite. Some people shouldn't even have a job at Devon but are really good sucking up

Oh it is total BS and almost everyone hates it. It is completely pointless, for several years I was told by my supervisor what my rating would be before I ever filled out anything. They already know in advance who they will rate with what rating. In my old group my supervisors buddies always got higher ratings, I thankfully got moved out of that group but they are still doing it and getting away with it for now.

And how much stock holder money hours was invested in these ratings and GOALS...... look where the stock price is now.... Time says it all.......... these BS ratings and goals is a joke of a mirage to project you know what your doing as a corporation....... looks like more mindless upper mgt BS for a purpose of existence to me...

Saw a foreman in the field cuss out his supervisor in front of everyone then he got a exceeds expectations rating

He's not getting laid off

You're right it's not based on performance but how well you pay the game

Generally, one or two out of ten.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. I was laid off recently and I never received anything below a fully meets with several years of exceeds. I know people that are still there in my former group that complained about getting rated needs improvement one of those people received that rating on more than one occasion but he seems to have friends in the right places. He goes to the gym and has happy hour with the right managers so he still has a job.

I think something like:

5% exceptional

10-15% exceeds

50-60% fully meets
