Be careful and don’t lose your severance package

Please be careful before your separation date. You are still on the payroll until that date. So some actions like starting a new job before the separation date could put your severance pay at risk. Plus, while highly unlikely, you could be... — read more

Differences in separation date?

I wanted to see if anyone else believes that the separation date chosen for us is discriminatory/unfair. The separation date seems to have no correlation to our last day/fungibility of our role, nor does it have to do with tenure or position... — read more

Would have been nice to have voluntary redundancy

Instead of culling the company with no rationale, why not simply just ask who would like to leave. I know several people that would have jumped at the chance but now they get to continue to work for a company that is going down hill

Did a dirty one

Its a mess. Senior folks who built the company, many the only breadwinners of their families or on a visa let go in a moments notice. Corporate America at its best.

It’s sad….

It’s sad that Chris literally said that “it will be good for the company and help it grow”. Oh really? Good for who? It’s good for Chris and the stock holders. That’s about it. Don’t get me wrong, I am relieved and not stressed anymore but still feel... — read more

The lesson here is mergers are the devil

Any time there is a merger this happens. While I've avoided RIFs during previous mergers, I got su-ked up into this one. The 2 companies NEVER have similar cultures despite what the CEO says. And 99.99999% of the time mass layoffs always follow... — read more

This is all on this leadership

If the leadership knew how to properly run this company there would be no need for layoffs. Sadly, they are the ones who get to make mistake after mistake and we are the ones who end up paying for it. I think we'll be seeing many more layoffs in the... — read more

Today was a glorious day

I slept in. I got a great work out. Had lunch with my family. Did a little Christmas shopping. And not once did I stress about being on meetings that went nowhere wanting to bang my head against the wall.

Slightly off-topic, but check out the movie, "The Company Men" with Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones, and Kevin Costner. It's a story about some guys that dedicated their lives to their company and what they go through after getting laid off. This... — read more

rough guess for why people chosen

Hard to tell exactly the criteria. After knowing of at least 10 laid off in various depts, I can tell it is not based on performance. Some very productive, talented people were let go along with a few that were just starting. No 'in the weeds'... — read more

Age of those laid off

Is it just me, or does it seem that those who were laid off skew older? Most of the people I know who are affected are in their late 40s and above. Is this the case throughout TU?

One week per year?

Is this correct? One week per year is one of the lowest severances that can be offered. Two is the average, but some offer three and even a month. This is an insult toward loyal employees who have stuck with TU through thick and thin.

Seriously. NeuterStar. We need a history lesson.
