Thread regarding TransUnion layoffs

Is this timetable messed up?

Severance day is more than 45 days out, but severance agreement says have 45 days to review it, but documents say can't sign it until after severance day. That is an impossible timetable. Have you reviewed your timetable?

My separation date is on March 1, if I get job before that and leave TU before March 1, would I be getting severance ?

Yes, that is correct. It’s a legal requirement not a TU requirement. I think the window is a little longer if you are over 40, but it still has to be after you are off the payroll.

It’s the law that at least if you’re over 40 you get 45 days to review. The severance can only be signed once you are truly severed from the company. This time between the end of active work and separation date means you are still on the payroll and not severed yet. So you have a week between your separation date and the final day to accept it. That’s pretty standard.
