Thread regarding TransUnion layoffs

Can we get another job if still on TU payroll but no longer working?

Last online day is coming up, but severance day is a few months out. On payroll until severance day. Does anyone know if we can seek employment elsewhere before our payroll ends on severance day? Also, can they call us back while on payroll if something screws up (which probably will for some depts.)?

I worked two jobs with TU. 2020 thru 2022. Management is so poor at TU they didn’t know. I would work both positions. If there was a meeting I wouldn’t join. Wfh. I sadly stopped working for the other company in late 2022.

My suggestion is to find a job before your exit date of March 1 and do both. Obviously you don’t have to bust your a-s at TU and focus on the other position.

From my experience it took me 6 months to get caught up with the other company. Of course they paid less that’s why I left them but I collected insurance at TU 401 options. The other job I took the check. Management at TU is so clueless, diversity group of people who don’t care about you and looking at for the Indian family across the sea.

My separation date is on March 1, if I get job before that and leave TU before March 1, would I be getting severance ?

Yes I asked this question too and I was told that as long as I met my obligations through my lady working day, I could find another job without it impacting my severance. But you can always email HR if you want to ask again.

Technically no but you might get away with it if you keep quiet and don’t get recalled (which is unlikely). Personally I could use a little time off and won’t take a job until my severance is fully paid.

Just don't tell anyone. Don't update your linkedin or anything like that. Get the new job and enjoy.

I feel like the language is a little vague. You’re supposed to be ready and available to complete all requests through your last “working day” which to me is different than your separation date. I mean with your access turned off how could you do any work any way? Also there is only talk about surrendering the severance if you are rehired by TU.

I just wouldn’t advertise starting a new job anywhere until after you have your severance payment in hand just to be extra safe.

Read the conditions of your termination agreement. I was laid off at a different company with a severance date 10 weeks out, however last "online day" was 3 days after the layoff call. My last online day was coincidentally the day I planned to provide my 2-week notice. I started the new job 2 weeks later and still got my paychecks through the severance date. As part of the layoff discussions, I did ask when I could start working a new job and was told the day after the last "online day." Read your docs but my guess is yes you can work somewhere else and get paid through "severance day"
