@dn it's speculation. everyone has been speculating about rto for years. everytime there's an employee meeting, people pile on to "rto rto!". eveyrtime there's a layoff, people say "rto rto!". when it's quiet, people say "rto rto!". It's a small minority of people that are jealous that some get remote and are wishful thinking that they suffer commuting. The sad thing is that these are likely your peers who don't care about nike, they only care about having everyone be as miserable as they are. for the record, i am not remote and idc who is.

@dm is there an actual source behind this assertion or conjecture? Just asking because we have many critical teams comprised of engineers not even in the nearby states…

They are going to announce RTO for most of GT that are remote today. Some might get an exception but the callout to consolidate to PHK seemed pretty direct

Must be nice not to work Sundays.
I'm in tech, remote worker and I OFTEN work nights, weekends and early mornings to accommodate Zoom with people around the globe + emergencies / overtime.

So because those of us don’t have kids, we have to return to work? Pretty sure if you’re at caring for your kids during the day, you’re not working collaborative hours with your partners at work.

@OP, I don't know about you, but I am off on Sundays.

@a1 Its a giant enterprise. Tens of thousands people. Not every position is the same, nor should every position be on some equal standard.

Doesn't make sense to have the designer on a team located in PHK to be remote when the rest of their team is also in PHK and they collab together or work with physical materials.

Doesn't make sense for the remote PHK dev to go to office when they will be working and zooming with people in ITC. Or do you think a PHK dev should have to commute to work to only then have to rush to commute back to do a zoom with ITC after 6 PM PST?

You are misreading, OP doesn't mean remote pilot is ending. They mean the "work from home" layoff period for GT ends May 03.

soon as I read “Most” I was disappointed, that means some will get out of it.

I get those on remote want to stay there, I do. But here is the thing. It’s an uneven standard being applied across employees. Some get remote, some don’t.

Some are remote and could care less. Some are remote and have kids so it helps a ton. Others just do a bunch of nothing and still get paid.

Then you have the flipside which is people sitting in a cube day in and day out. Wondering why they can’t be remote since they work for the same company.

And it all started with whichever “leader” had the most pull back when this sh-t was being decided. That’s it. Literally. Don’t tell me it’s because “some jobs are suited”… that’s laughable.

Keep things fair, same standard.
