Google Project Team is a Joke

That “Fireside Chat” today was beyond corny and completely useless. I’m sure the 1933 evening radio programs were much more informative and reassuring to the American people. Totally scripted questions which were rehearsed, regurgitated answers that could be found in previous emails and the FAQ website, beating around the bush & stalling on important issues that will need to be addressed pronto, communication is not tailored to specific departments, i.e. using a one-size-fits-all approach is not effective. For example, I don’t travel, so I don’t care how I access files when I’m in an airport. Of course, the collaboration, security, and AI rationale was propagated instead of being frank and stating that it’s a cost-cutting measure. No, you are not getting a Chromebook immediately, so stop asking. Yes, we know Early Adopters begin December 8th and everybody else mid-February. What will you need to do if use complex tools? They’ll “figure it out” later on, aka you’ll need to rebuild everything from scratch and make some sacrifices along the way.

Buckle up, it’s about to get brutal.

Early Adopter here. Google is absolute garbage, everything from the look & feel of the screens to the functionality of the apps. I heard through the grapevine that there is growing panic that insufficient testing was conducted to handle all mandatory workflows. What a shocker, the roll out will be botched by the nincompoops in charge. I called it back in August.

They don’t care. The cryptic org announcement today doesn’t concern them.

During the call, I heard a comment that over 1K people on the “chat”.

This means the costs associated with 1K labor hours were shifted to concentrate on the Google transition.

I’d be surprised if transition labor costs are included in any estimated cost savings, but they should.

@V7 I honestly wish I could live in whatever alternate universe you’re seeing. They’ve had almost a year to prep for this Chrome integration and still can’t answer the most basic questions about workflows, data transfers, or how any of this is supposed to function in the real world. Leadership keeps getting dazzled by buzzwords and AI demos while the company can’t even get its existing cloud tools to play nicely with the ERP. This isn’t a “strategic vision,” it’s a slow-motion train wreck that’s about to wipe out whatever morale and productivity we have left.

I thought the meeting was good. They are trying to overcommunicate and make people comfortable with the change. Of course it was a money decision, but I'm sure the product has some benefits for everyone that we don't have today. In order to stay relevant, you need to be adaptable to change. Try to be positive or go somewhere else and b^tch.

@ad The guy teeing up the questions made it sound like a late night infomercial selling waffle makers.

Complex tools? Sounds complicated. Maybe time to simplify and take a trip somewhere.
