How are the managers managed?

I've seen too many managers run around like no one is watching. It seems like the managers have free reign at Baker Hughes. Who holds them accountable? How are they held accountable?

Where is your next dream job.

BH is slack. Do you go to the competition and beat this company like a drum or do you go into a different industry?

Check out Schlumberger

Some of you should go look at Schlumberger posts. To be honest NOV and Baker posts are practically the same, Either both cultures are in the toilet or both workforces lack maturity. Looks like Schlumberger employees are using this site for what its... — read more

Any rumors at Emmott Rd?

I heard there may be layoffs coming in January but was wondering if that’s still true. How’s it going there?

What's next

Where are the growth opportunities for Baker in the downstream? Which one makes more sense. Services or Equipment? Lets keep chemicals out of this for now.

Is there anyone in my situation?

Let me start off by saying I have a little over a year to early retirement (thanks to financial investments). A part of me is itching to get out now especially since BH is no longer what I remembered it to be and all of the core values I admired long... — read more

The better you work the more criticized you get?

I don’t know if this happens to you, but I get the most criticism when I am objectively at my best and most productive. Even my colleagues noticed it, so I’m pretty sure I didn’t imagine it. Whether it was some animosity on part of my manager, I... — read more

How many are out there?

I was with BH for over 15 years. I started out young, fresh out of college and over the years I put everything on the back burner, gave my blood, sweat and tears to a company that saw me as just a number on a sheet. They got rid of me without a... — read more

Baker Hughes' problem is they lack leadership

True leadership at the Sugar Land level and all the way up to Maria. All they are is yes men to her and heaven forbid, actually go and see a employee out in the field past driving distance from their homes in Texas and customer for once and listen to... — read more

What are other people saying?

We all know other people in O&G in other companies...competitors, customers, suppliers. What are they saying about WFT?

This is why I stay

For those who keep wondering why some of us stay even if we are unhappy here. Yes, I hate it here. And yes, I'm looking for a way out. But right now, that's not that easy. I would love to find another job ASAP but until then I choose to remain here... — read more

Perfectly said

I was just let go from BH. I was middle management LPB doing an SPB's job and this is my take. #3 - In every business known, laying off employees is cheaper than selling assets. This is true in every scenario. The equipment, buildings, inventories... — read more

Bridge of Don

Passed Baker today, was amazed by how empty the car park was, either there have been hundreds of pay offs or everyone has started jogging to work !!

HR is here to protect the company. Period.

This is the case with every big company so we are no exception. The fact that some people don't realize this and actually expect humane treatment or some kind of positive resolution for their issue when dealing with HR is shocking to me. Their goal... — read more

Woodlands BakerHughes Spreadsheet workers and wrench turners

Today we lost a good employee, a man who knew every aspect of the plant . It is so sad to see this guy get layed off , he wore many hats to keep this plant running smooth, they will see in the future what they have lost when he is gone.
