Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

The better you work the more criticized you get?

I don’t know if this happens to you, but I get the most criticism when I am objectively at my best and most productive. Even my colleagues noticed it, so I’m pretty sure I didn’t imagine it. Whether it was some animosity on part of my manager, I don’t know, but it has become quite unbearable. I have no idea what to do, it has been going on for several months, but I only know that I will not fall into the trap of working less and becoming less productive.

Don't report your problems to anyone in that organization. You'll wasting your time and your sanity. And he will put you on the first bus out of there.

He's intimidated by you and anyone who has natural born ability toward being a leader."

OMG. This sounds exactly like my former manager – who still works at BH by the way!

He criticized my successes and enjoyed any little failure he could pick on. He was the worst manager I've ever had in 15+ years of my career. I watched so of his "favorite" people on the team walk out, so I know it wasn't just me. One of my coworkers accidentally let slip that working for him was a "nightmare." Yes, yes, it was.

Is your boss dressed like he's going to Breckenridge after work?

This is what brings week people to the top. Pressuring the talented out so a D average supervisor can look good. More or less openly promoting under performers. Not shocking.

I’ve noticed over the years that GE brings bad culture to good prosperous organizations. Looks like this boss isn’t a climber. Just a leach begging for what’s left.

First off, I take it that you've just started working for this manager in the past 6 months. Secondly if the first is true, then i know exactly who your boss is. Thirdly your boss reads this site daily, and from the looks of it he's the first one to reply to your post. So he's telling you exactly what he wants from you, which are your ideas, your hard work and your SILENCE. And lastly I'm definitely not your boss because I don't work in BH anymore. An old co-worker of mine pointed me to this post because I've gone through the same thing with him.

Here's the punch line. I know its tough finding a job right now, but don't let that stop you. He's banking that you're stuck and he'll let on to that for ever. This guy has zero friends and no one that know's him is willing to bail him out anymore! He's brought no one from prior teams that he's managed because they think he s—s!

I hope you read this soon, because a lot of us have noticed that he's had this site take off a lot of previous conversations that hit home for him pretty hard.

Do less not MORE!

Yes, this is the culture in BH. Those go through the motion and not really put effort in their works are survivors. For them, more problems you highlight, mean you are problematic.
