Can we get FMLA for CBDBPD?

I've suffered from back problems from this ever since I was a teenager. I applied today and hoping UP approves.

New mechanical attendance policy

You no longer have vacation. Vacation is for going to the doctor and covering lates due to inclement weather etc. Words right out of the mouth of the HR lady.

DeSoto layoffs

It’s happening again. Will be shut down by April 30th. Managers are having meetings to determine their plan of action to execute it.

Vena sighting at West Colton!!!

Yalls not gonna believe it but I can verify that Jim Vena was at the West Colton yard today!! He is back and ready to break out the axe and start trimming the fat once again. Only problem is day aint no meat left on da bone

The downfall of PSR

The main reason I see that PSR did not work is that UP has way too many diversity hires, and “Daddy got me a job here”, types.

Managing by fear

Yep, I can hear it all now from the managers. We’ve got to work safe, or they’ll close our facility. We’ve got to be productive, or they’ll close our facility. We’ve got to cut payroll costs, or they’ll close our facility. .. — read more

San Bernardino Dispatch Office

Word from a few BNSF employees is the San B office will close later this year. Anyone have any insight?

Please, do SOMETHING!

Growing mechanical territory for exhausted and detached Mechanical Managers and TCI’s is hard to watch. What will it take? This isn’t sustainable. An unrelenting list of Bad Orders strung across hundreds of miles of track. You can feel the souls of... — read more

CPKCS will outperform UP

Notice CPKCS doesn’t give a cr-p about diversity or ESG nonsense and now they’re No.1 https://www.railwayage.com/freight/cpkc-april-14-combo-c-suite-set/

Happy Saint Patrick’s day from North Platte

We have people here that trace their ancestry back to Saint Patrick and as such it is treated with respect and honor much like our safety culture here. Therefore I’d like to wish all my brothers and sisters in north Platte a safe holiday on the... — read more

No location on the UP is a good place to work

Face the Facts: With the adoption of PSR, there are zero good places to work on the UP (or any other class 1 railroad for that matter). All of the postings bragging on which service unit is the best are silly. We all are considered second class... — read more

Up online

North Platte needs a story about them on UP Online.

Anyone else threatened?

Leading up to our sick pay starting April 1st, has your manager already threatened to give your work to another craft “if too many people call out sick”? If only there was a real solution to it, such as HIRING BACK MORE PEOPLE.

Cut overtime

Anybody seeing their overtime reduced? They want us waiting till next day to fix things now.

PSR

The entire idea behind the workforce in relation to PSR is to put the people closest to the work in the decision making process. When Vena is back on board, lower and middle management should be concerned.

CEO

War is Peace Freedom is Slavery Ignorance is Strength Hedge Fund is an Activist

The next CEO better show some respect to North Platte. Lance didn’t respect our work or threats of a strike. And that’s why they fired him.

North Platte has the #1 safety record across the UP railroad and it’s not even close. We expect hopeful CEO potential candidates to come to North Platte and meet with union leadership and we’ll make a recommendation who would accept to lead us. — read more

If not Vena, then who?

I definitely don’t want to see Vena get the position. But I’m curious to know who everyone would like to see to replace Fritz instead. Gerehinger would have my vote. Who would you vote for?

I'm positively surprised

I have to say, I didn't think I'd see the day when Fritz would finally be seen for the fraud he is and get removed from UP. Not only that but to see the stock price go up significantly after he stepped down is charry on top of the already delicious... — read more
