Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

This will not work

They really need to change the attendance policy to make it easier for people with illnesses to go to the doctor and take care of their health. If they want to keep any employees that have any sort of marketable skills at all. UP is operating in the 1800s still.

Pretty much this. If UP wants to know why people are walking away in droves, it has to look at most of its policies, including attendance. Everything is tailored to make our lives worse instead of better. Who would want to stay in an environment like this if they don't have to?

The problem is people aren’t walking away in droves. Most on this site are worried about the next round of cuts, trying to hang on. If people really started walking away, or if the majority of the employees would have a sick-out and not show up to work for a few days, maybe they would be inclined to change the attendance policy. Until their hand is forced, they have no incentive to change.
