It’s happening again. Will be shut down by April 30th. Managers are having meetings to determine their plan of action to execute it.

This is a layoff website. If you don't want to hear rumors or news about layoffs why are you here? Must be a manager. Typical.
@5cte-I doubt the local newspaper or UP itself is a very accurate place to check for upcoming layoffs. You will know about 5 minutes before it happens.
People that don’t know what their talking about need to quit posting stuff like a buncha bitties at the hair shop. Gossip dang shame y’all need to act like men and shut up. We’ve checked the local paper in desoto and with up no such truths!
Removing the UP shields where? Palestine or Desoto?
It looks like this could be true. They are taking UP shields off of the buildings.
All the legal fees UP spent you can bet your A$$ Palestine is doomed!!!! UP didn't fight that hard to give up. Wake up, open your eyes!!!
Palestine has not shut down. Not saying it’s
not coming though.
Palestine already shut down and it wouldn’t surprise me if they close desoto and sub out the repair work to limit liability when derailments happen. Just my thought but who knows and no they don’t give a fluck about the 90 day notice. That’s pocket change to them there’s only 135 carman at desoto.
@2tt, go lick your own bu-----e….d-bag!
Not true… There’s many places that got shutdown.. And we’re only given a 5 minute notice
Why does UP need Carmen to inspect Trains? 15000' plus ft 20000 tons plus we can hand off going east so the other carriers get to take care of the wrecks. No air slips but what's in the paperwork that's been pencil whipped. No problem. Lance has this covered. Well tell his replacement gets it dropped in his lap.
Layoffs or shutdown? There is a big difference on how it's handled. I.e., a shutdown requires a 90-day notice. April 30th (if 2023) is considerably short of that requirement.
Follow up question...What's the update on Palestine, TX? This location and Desoto are the 2 last car repair facilities on the system. I can't see UP giving both up at the same timeframe. But who knows. UP can care less about workers and their families.
