Good luck tomorrow

Well, looks like the word about layoffs tomorrow has really gotten around - I don't remember when the mood was this somber in the office the last time. I just hope it will not be as bad as some of us are fearing...but who knows. In any case, good... — read more

Lack of executive communication

It’s a sad state at Symantec right now. With the lack of communication and anxiety, many are keeping their heads down, not collaborating with their teams or cross functionally afraid that they will be arming someone else with the information to make... — read more

T-Minus 2 days

Buckle up folks. It’s going to be an interesting ride on Thursday, and don’t be side tracked by the rumored “good” numbers. For those of you that are not RIF’d and choose to stay, best of luck. You realize they have been RIFing groups of people below... — read more

Detailed severance info

There's info on SymInfo as well as an older Excel spreadsheet that will get you a rough estimate. Severance starts with a base X number of weeks of pay, and then you get an additional week of pay for every year you worked after that. I left the... — read more

Layoffs where?

Any idea where this could happen? US? Brasil? Ireland? India? China?

Question for those who were already laid off

If any of you still occasionally visit this forum - can you please tell us if you were able to find a new job by now? And if you did, how does it compare to your previous job at Symantec (pay, benefits, work environment?) More layoffs are imminent... — read more

RIF timeline info

First RIF was mid-may, and the acquisition was announced 4-6 weeks later. Closed the deal in November and the next RIF was within weeks of that. This is info posted by somebody from CA on their board on the RIF timeline regarding the acquisition... — read more

Symantec is finally imploding

Let's face it, Symantec has been a dying company for a decade with an inept board and entrenched, incompenetent management. To those who remain, being laid off may be a gift. You may not realize it yet, but there are many, many better places to work.

Not happy

From everything I've learned about Broadcom so far, it's clear that if they really do acquire us, we'll be gutted. Which s—s, because I actually enjoy my work. It's easy for people who can't wait to leave Symantec - severance will just be an added... — read more

Layoffs are an indicator

If you see people being layed off now, have a look at the movement in upper managment. Also, check if any of the executive team got rid of their stock. All these things happened before the deal was announced at CA (after denying that a deal is under... — read more

Good advice regarding Broadcom from former CA employee

It depends on where you work in Symantec. If you are in a non-technical role, run! For Sales the life is tough and most of the Sales people in Emea legged it immediately. Broadcom does not do benefits. They don't have a company culture. They are ... — read more

Former CA here

Get your resumes ready if the deal goes through. On day 1 after the acquisition finalized, Broadcom cut nearly 50% of the US workforce. That 50% excludes the folks from VeraCode who were sold off to a PE firm. Good Luck.

Pray to the old gods and the new

That a Broadcom buyout of Symantec does not take place. 30 percent of the firm will be let go day one and another 30 percent will be put on transition to be let go in 3-9 months. All new development will be put on hold and existing customers will be... — read more

More Layoffs

We had layoffs around a month ago and more seem to be coming. Laying off people they hired like a year ago who are doing excellent work! Company is in a chaos with no direction. Not a good environment to work in.

Lay offs on the Norton LifeLock side

More layoffs at Symantec

It's sad. I left the Norton Core team several months ago. It was not a healthy work environment and there were a lot of politics. I just heard today that pretty much the entire team was laid off. Wow! They are far from the only ones let go. I know of... — read more

This is massive!

Around 1,000 people are being shown the door, that is much more than I expected. Luckily (and I know this is a matter of perspective,) it's global, so we might not see the worst of it. At least that's what I'm hoping. Anybody knows when we'll have... — read more
