If you see people being layed off now, have a look at the movement in upper managment. Also, check if any of the executive team got rid of their stock. All these things happened before the deal was announced at CA (after denying that a deal is under way).

Already scheduled, massive layoff still scheduled for July 15th or thereabouts. May correspond with deal being announced officially inside Symantec (assuming no last minute glitches).
It's not top secret details at this juncture. In all likelihood SYMC will be bought out by AVGO. A massive layoff was already afoot for this month. Come to think of it, I wonder if it will be delayed.
