It’s a sad state at Symantec right now. With the lack of communication and anxiety, many are keeping their heads down, not collaborating with their teams or cross functionally afraid that they will be arming someone else with the information to make their position obsolete. It’s prison rules and it’s sad.

The current (interim) CEO is the least employee and customer friendly CEO that I have ever encountered. He has completely alienated employees and customers by making it clear that he is only concerned with the interests of shareholders. While it’s admittedly a fine line to walk, his failure to effectively engage with employees and customers was the final nail in Symantec’s coffin.
Is the layoffs hitting mostly enterprise? or are there layoffs taking place in Norton as well? I don't see many layoffs taking place here in Culver City at Norton.
The joke is that some of us were notified weeks ago that we were going to be laid off, then they told us that they had postponed indefinitely, then 2 weeks later told us we were laid off tomorrow again. That’s unusually unprofessional and unethical. And to others’ point, not conducive to being productive when our teams know that we are in limbo.
Dragging this out until the day of the earnings call instead of getting it over with is a perfect example of how sh–ty & clueless upper management is at Symantec. No matter what happens, the executives will walk away with millions, and they could give a sh– less if you're freaking out about being able to make your mortgage payment.
I enjoyed working here, but it's clear there's no future in it anymore. I hope I do get laid off so I can walk out with a couple months of salary and go somewhere that isn't such a clusterf–k.
I don't think there is much to found out. The broadcom deal looks dead. The RIFs are no secret. Nor is it any secret that a new CEO should be coming soon. There doesn't seem to be any other buyers waiting on the wings. And I doubt we'll ever find out why the RIF got delayed or why they thought $26 was not enough for a buyout.
It'll be "we don't comment on rumours" and carry on as before.
I think we should find out this week or Monday what the F is going on. I am also working on getting some offers. Regardless of what happens, Symantec will keep going down year over year. No long term growth here.
I don’t know anyone who’s either not working or not collaborating due to potential layoffs, that’s absurd. Anybody with that mindset is quite frankly a useless PoS.
On the other side there is plenty of reason for some people to stick around irrespective of potential RiF.
Hahah.. people who think that way are useless anyways, and will be laid off sooner or later. Anyone who can get another job elsewhere are leaving already. This Friday is my last, and I am glad to be moving out of this hell hole.
