What's the scoop - who will be affected this time around?

Sad.
It's amazing no one has bought and split this company up. Even Broadcom, who stomached buying CA, could not swallow this one once it looked inside. Insiders have been making millions for years selling stock and getting high bonuses primarily from Norton cash. No one buys Symc enterprise anymore. Its years behind competitors.
Only hope is for venture capitalists to come in, take private and sell off the pieces. 2000 layoffs this year and another 2k next year as the revenue declunes.
Broadcom would come to layoff you guys, stay tuned lol
Trying to trim that meat to make it look attractive in window. It’s good, you really don’t need experienced engineers in this business. Just hire new grass, or better still, outsource it to HCL. That sure worked for Boeing.
“Up to 8%” was under the last CEO. Now that we have a new CEO and CFO, cuts will be even more aggressive. The enterprise side of the business alone expects to lose 1600 people. Several of our small offices will close and remote workers are being looked at as well. Hope Starboard is proud of themselves...
A cut of 2k would exceed the “up to 8%” reorg. Three cheers for maximizing shareholder value!
Been hearing about 2k people getting laid off by July and there are also a lot of site closures coming. Been here for two years and this is the most unstable company I've been a part of. Actively applying for new opportunities.
Symantec needs to come up with some new products ... that SEP stuff is sh--. Norton stuff doesn't seem bad but i'm not paying 100 bucks a year (60 for the first). They can cut as many jobs as they like but until they manage to sell some products, there's no company.
The enterprise side of the business will take the biggest hit since they have a mandate to cut $100 million in expenditures. This means several products and people will be cut. Several offices will also be marked for full closure. Whoever is impacted will know by August.
Been gone for three years now after spending nearly 15 at Symantec. I think the first thing that hit me was: Life's great on the other side. Believe me, the chaos isn't normal. I stomached and put up with the mess for so long that I forgot how working should be.
Best of luck to all of those who get laid off, you're going to do great things somewhere else. My condolences to all who stay. There are more stable companies where you will be respected (and likely paid) more. I hope you find your way to one of them soon.
