Not sure I’d say these sort of boards are cancer. If you look at past threads and on a competing site you will see quite a few things have been right.
It’s obvious that some posting do know the dates and who will be impacted, at least in their own groups.
I make a point of never posting that sort of info, it crosses my personal line in the sand. But, let’s not kid ourselves into believing there isn’t a lot of accurate, confidential information being leaked.
I have mixed feelings about that. On one hand confidential information shouldn’t be leaked, but given the lack of communication from leadership it’s hardly surprising that people share what they hear.
If leadership wants to reduce the confidential information being posted on the internet perhaps they should actually treat us respectfully and communicate with us.
The crazy rumors that would seem to be trolling for the personal amusement of whoever posts are welcome comic relief in these trying times.
Makes sense, they might want to own the whole block.
To the poster who asked if OP cares about SYMC. The problem is I don’t know anyone that cares anymore. The lack of communication has severely damaged trust and morale.
I still enjoy what I’m doing but this situation is impacting my motivation, but not as much as others as far as I can tell.
I seriously wonder if Symantec can recover from this. If employees give up and just wait to be let go over the next year or so, or the rate of good people accelerates then I don’t see there being any option for the company other than reducing costs, putting things more of less in maintenance mode and making as much money as possible before fading away.
I sincerely hope that doesn’t happen.
These boards are cancer. Nobody knows anything and blindly assume RIF dates and departments that are going to be affected. Now we have an id–t spouting rumors about Google.
