How stable is Qualcomm?

Got a job offer at Qualcomm, more precisely and engineer position at San Diego. The offer exceeds my current job in the financial sense and the job certainly presents a good challenge. On the other hand I’m getting a little worried when I hear the... — read more

The next inflection point for Qualcomm

It seems like I have heard of some really key modem hardware and software people that have left in the last year (some key RF people as well). New grads will not be able to backfill the talent. So my prediction is that Qualcomm will have another... — read more

but cellphones aren’t allowed on the course or galleries. How is one supposed to stream? Take selfies? Upload vids? Come on Augusta.

Why are people leaving?

I understand the traditional fear of the company taking a fall, but from what I’ve seen there are not many competitors on the market that give better work conditions than Q ( in terms of bay, benefits, vacation….). On the other hand, I see people... — read more

Future doesn't look bright

People are leaving Qualcomm in droves and those replacing them have no idea what they're doing. Fresh from college, no experience whatsoever and very little desire to learn. At least that has been my experience in the past year. Are those the only... — read more

Any info on potential layoffs?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m aware that the discussion of this board goes beyond the standard layoff rumors talk, but It's just that I see a lot of people posting here and not a lot of reports of actual layoffs. Is it possible that none are happening or... — read more

Do business during working hours ?

I hear there are plenty of folks who are doing businesses during regular business hours ? Is HR aware of the situation ? Do managers/exec know such activities and not taking any action ? How does qualcomm ensure that these folks are productive? As a... — read more

Only two days at Intel George and look what happens

media reports surfaced that Intel (INTC) will not be able to supply 5G modems for Apple’s (AAPL) 2020 iPhones. Apple will not have a 5G iphone option unless it uses a Qualcomm modem. Your timing is impeccable Mr. Davis.

Hopefully this will become a trend

Do Something That Works - Fire Mellon Head

Massive buybacks, major layoffs, killing new businesses, fighting takeover, jumping up and down shouting 5G, none of which has moved the stock higher. The answer is to fire the exec team starting with the CEO.

Qualcomm has to accept that they are not so dominant

I’m not saying that Q will stop being the market leader in the near future, but looking portion of the market gradually is an inevitability. The competitors are gaining up, many smartphone makers are deciding to go “in-house” with the production of... — read more

Irrelevant skill sets

This guy who has spent 20 years at Qualcomm tried to add me on LinkedIn, and I felt really sorry for him. He put stuff like slide rule, punch card, and sun dial on his LinkedIn. These are totally irrelevant skill sets in 2019. The only thing this guy... — read more

Any sign of layoffs?

Not that I;m trying to evoke layoffs but it’s been unusually quiet at my location and within my team. Are layoffs going on in any part of the company these days?

Layoffs Planned for Q4 2019

I’ve heard from a very reliable source that QCT is planning a large layoff in Q4 of 2019 as part of a restructuring as the product lines move into a more commodity model.

Back to Qcom

Does Qualcomm hire previously laid off employees? Please answer question only, not looking for advice. Serious responses only please.

Any bets on when the spring-culling will begin?

Last year, affected people started being notified in April. I wonder if there will be another big round of layoffs this year. With so many good people leaving, will it be necessary? I’m hoping for some good TV.
