Will the Clinton site be touched by layoffs?

I have not heard many rumors of headcount reduction at the Clinton site. They have been PIP people for a few months now though. But I also am wondering how the groups who are not subject to the ranking system and are unionized will be affected.

Board Meeting/Announcement Updates

Any updates/rumors on the board meeting today? Any word on headcount reductions? Timing? I come here since it seems to be the only way to get information around here.

Lazy STPs

Who else is tired of the lazy STPs coasting and not doing any work? Many STPs in Surface never at work, never online, never available for consultation. What are they here for? They leave the rest of us in the Function to pull up the slack then they... — read more

Who are these people?

On Glassdoor, it says 46 percent of people would recommend EM to a friend. Makes me wonder, do these people not like their friends? Did they do something unforgivable to them? Because why else would you recommend this horrid place with subpar pay... — read more

Who all knows the lay-off list at this point?

I would assume the list of employees to be laid off is shared down the management ranks at this point. How far down do you think this information has been cascaded? No lower than department heads? Or down to manager/supervisor levels? Any... — read more

Anyone else tired of LT’s fake empathy

My clueless supervisor keeps trying to be a cheerleader and keeps telling people everything will work out. Of course things will work out for her! She threw half the team under the bus during ranking to save herself! When cheerleading doesn’t... — read more

Research layoffs in chemicals?

Do you think they might sell BTEC or layoff people there? Many months back they had outside groups tour the site(they painted everything quickly to make it look better). They said it was investors. Research doesn't make money

Plant layoffs

Will there also be a big layoff at Mont Belvieu?

Feeling extremely unmotivated

With the hopeless tone of the forum last week and the unknowns surrounding impending layoffs, morale amongst myself and my peers feel like it has hit rock bottom. How are things in other groups? Does everyone feel like this? How are you staying... — read more

I was lucky

I saw the direction EM was headed and quietly implemented an exit strategy right as Covid 19 hit back in February. Did my research on companies I was interested in and actually found a position with a company that needed my skills but wasn’t in O&G... — read more

We have been mediocre for years

In my opinion, it's from the company's insistence on growing a workforce of generalists instead of hiring experienced people for key roles. Having a people committee assign folks to roles - much like being in the military - instead of allowing... — read more

What does this mean

What does 3/3/0 or 2/2/2 mean in the context of package discussion? I saw a few people asked but didn't see explanation (or I probably missed it)

Expats still in place...doesn't add up?

There was a flurry of expat assignments in the past few years. Many expensive ones to Singapore and KL. Many of these folks are still in place despite the current situation. How does the company justify these guys remaining on the gravy train whilst... — read more

Why do so many XOM employees own XOM stock?

Rough job market out there

I’ve been keeping tabs on the 10 or so people that got PIP earlier this year (mostly through LinkedIn, some direct). Out of the 10 only 1 seems to have a new job. Seeing how it’s been 2 months, that’s a bit frightening if you ask me. Now the caveat... — read more

Negativity compared to other boards

I left ExxonMobil not long ago (my choice), and I want to say that it is sad-but-not-surprising that this board is much angrier and dejected than other O&G boards. I really hope that venting on this board helps folks through the grieving process... — read more
