I saw the direction EM was headed and quietly implemented an exit strategy right as Covid 19 hit back in February. Did my research on companies I was interested in and actually found a position with a company that needed my skills but wasn’t in O&G. It required relocating out of state which I wholeheartedly accepted due to the benefits the company provided. Now I don’t have the headaches usually associated with EM. I haven’t looked back and I am happy with the choices I’ve made to leave.

I don't think the original poster was being remotely boastful or they were saying "look at me now" . I think it's good when people can articulate that there is life after leaving a company. This doesn't just apply to EM, it can be any company where the fit isn't right.
Someone commented that maybe EM still had a hold on the original poster as they are still using this forum. I can honestly relate to that! I worked for EM for 15 years and left on my own terms like the OP. To be honest, I think I was "damaged" by my EM experienced and it has taken some time to stop being angry about some of the things that happened, and how I was treated by a company who I worked hard for and made many sacrifices. However, as they say, life is too short and at some point you need to move on and just chalk it down to experience. There is life after EM.. just as I'm sure there will still be good careers for some at EM. There may be fewer roles but I'm sure the company will survive and eventually be a better place to work. That is my hope!

Why does this matter? I’ve sacrificed and known others that have moved several times with the family for their EM jobs (either domestic or international) . Sometimes short notice too. I knew this was a possibility in the project world and have been flexible.
If I leave EM I’ll cast a wide net and move anywhere if needed as long as the opportunity is right.

I think what the previous replier was getting at was that it would be best to completely forget about exxonmobil and move on....or the person was being a jerk and doesn’t understand that people that have recently exited a relationship (romantic/work/etc) are a little spiteful and tend to say “look at me now”, which isn’t the healthiest way to deal but eventually they get pass that relatively normal stage and realize “wow I haven’t thought of blah blah in forever” and move on stronger and better off. Good for you op! Be careful not to dwell on it but heck yeah, look at you now! Good work and all the best. I am sure people will find the post encouraging which was your main intent anyway. Don’t let people try to rain on your parade.
Cool. But obviously the fact that you are on this site means that the company still have a hold on you.
