Mobil was all Stock. Concho was all Stock. Parsley all stock. CVX is laying off 25% of Noble. Cash not needed for mergers. can consolidate and cut EVEN MORE staff to save money

I predict we'll be bought by JC Penney in one last slap in the face.

Geez, You don’t sell shares on the open market to get the cash. You just issue them to the recipient shareholders.
Will XOM go down a bit with such an announcement? Probably... but the issuance of the shares dilutes existing stockholders and resulting stock price will be based on the perceived value of the combined transaction.

  1. S. Exxon did not buy Mobil all with cash. They did it by increasing the shares of the combined companies.

Not really. If exxonmobil wants to sell shares to raise money, they will very easily tank the share price. Nothing like buying exxonmobil shares at a bargain price of $0.50/share.

I highly doubt XOM is buying another company, but if they were, don’t forget hey could easily use shares.
The company has roughly 9 Billion authorized shares and only 4.5 Billion outstanding. They could easily issue a billion shares at $30 and come up with $30 billion to some company.
If it’s something that could add to major cash flow or earnings, why not?

Probably from an article a few weeks back saying it could be one of several moves we could make. I certainly hope we are not buying another company!!!!!
