First, best of luck to all of those laid off today and those back last year. Second, can we talk about LTIP? The rich keep getting richer. Not going to offer stock to those below level 14! So the ones making the most money are now the only ones... — read more
Wow!
Engineer here. Got the boot today. Been working in the field since the slowdown. Also wondering how they decided on who to let go. With oil and stock prices on the rise there must be something more sinister on the way for marathon and those still... — read more
Determination?
I’m still trying to figure out how layoffs were determined this time... Last time we (managers) were asked who we could do without—and decisions were made “above us” on who to cut. I had no such conversation this time so I’m curious. — read more
How many employees were effected in this past layoff round?
Any total numbers? Department wise count wise?
How much further can we go?
We’re sitting at $50+ oil with a skeleton crew already and still making mass layoffs?? I can’t decide if the end is in sight for everyone soon or if the remaining employees will actually have safety.
Rise and shine its layoff time
Lee got punished by the board for performance. Now the rest of the company suffers for his inability to run an oil company. Best luck to everyone today.
Layoffs after Q4 report?
Earnings report is expected to be released on 2/17 and I am afraid that new layoffs will come with it. Given that the results are expected to be poor, this would not be too surprising. Any thoughts?
Bonuses??
Anybody heard anything on bonus payouts? I know there's an HR meeting next week to discuss results but thing are pretty tight lipped. What should we be expecting?
Land
What’s new in land? You guys have been silent for a while. Happy now? Scared now?
RTO to get covid. Thanks MRO!
Let’s all go back to office when new strains are popping everywhere. Yippee. Negligence at it’s finest! Lee and the board take a 25% pay cut and now everyone is being punished! A vaccine is right around the corner. I wonder how many people will... — read more
Rumblings
I’m hearing rumblings off another round of layoffs this week...
RH gone??
What happened there? I take it he did drink the Kool-Aid?
Federal Drilling Ban
Will this help or hurt our Permian position? Seems like a great start for redevelopment of premier Permian position. Where is penny stock when you need him?
Newest board member
BS sold EP Energy in 2012 to private equity ($7Bn) and Noble Energy in 2020 to a super major ($13Bn).
Abbott
Why was Todd fired today?
Land is hogging it.
For being a relatively small department Land accounts for a lot of vitriol on this site. Let’s discuss.
Relax and keep your head down
So many people are worried about any upcoming layoffs. I could never understand that. Take your future into your own hands. Save, save, save. Put all that energy you use stressing over potential layoffs and get prepared. You can’t control if you’re... — read more

What are the odds she doesn’t return from break? We can all have our dreams right?
Personal, no?
When layoffs happen, everyone says “it’s business, not person” and “the decision was made above me (managers)”. However, I find that after being laid off and reaching out to my colleagues who’re still employed by the company, it’s met with dead... — read more
No use in stressing ahead of time
Guys, here's the deal. Posts here can be useful after layoffs have happened to assess the damage when org charts aren't being provided. But beforehand, nothing on this forum is reliable. IF layoffs happen, which I tend to think they will, worrying... — read more
Experience is a detriment at MRO
The longer you've been here the higher the chance of you being given your walking papers. Instead of trying its best to keep people who have the experience and knowhow - not to mention priceless knowledge - MRO is looking for ways to get rid of us... — read more
No more RIF!!!!
Oil’s back at $50/bbl; were all safe now—unless your manager doesn’t like you for some reason.
Russian hacks MRO
Russian SVR hacks into Marathon files/data. They leave after finding no signs of life.
Truth hurts, but it's necessary
Here’s the honest truth and it’s going to hurt. EF might have another 3-5 years before the decline curves are so steep we can’t hype it any longer. ORB has been finished for a long time. We have tried to unload many times and no buyer is willing to... — read more
Next round?
Soon or sooner?
Odd?
Given the huge layoff in April 2020, does anyone else find it super odd that MRO has a ton of postings for Houston jobs right now?
MRO to acquire CHK?
On the Chesapeake board, someone suggested MRO is going to be the new boss? Any validity to this claim? Seems like itd be a merger rather than acquisition.
COBRA?
Does anyone have the number handy for that company that’s managing the insurance benefits for laid off employees?
Is it worth talking to HR at all?
HR of course works for the company, not for us workers, that's plain as daylight. However, I guess we should still help the employees if they have any issues at work. I remember a colleague, before this general chaos with a pandemic, who had some... — read more
Hope or Leadership
From a prior posting....."Things still aren't great, but they are getting better." This is hope and not leadership. MRO needs a plan for long term survivability. MRO can not rely on shale alone as a business model. If this is not clear to our... — read more
Things are not good right now
I'm trying to cope after being laid off in the last round but it's not easy. I've been with MRO for nearly a decade and I was naive enough to think I was going to retire there. I always gave it my all and I stupidly believed that was enough to keep... — read more
New year
With the new year right around the corner and things not looking all that bright fit O&G, should we expect further mass layoffs like we experienced in April?
VP of land
When will this nightmare be over? She is a total disaster and has destroyed the dynamics of our group.
COVID is coming for you
A certain high level HR manager has admitted exposing some of the upper “leadership “ team to covid. Had HR passed this on to people outside the “LT” who may have come in contact?
Out for good
Decided to take advantage of yesterday’s jump to liquidate my position in MRO. What a mess the company has turned out to be... From the 4th largest integrated in the US to whatever you want to call the current, poorly managed train wreck. At least... — read more
Can we survive with the brutal fact - Oil value will be for jet fuel and plastics only
The company's ability to survive with the current green wave push is the real question. Oil will be needed for jet fuel and plastics products only. Can we as a company make a shift in business model and cost structure to survive vs that of Exxon... — read more
No future at Marathon Oil

Old Pension
What have they said about the change in interest rate used to calculate lump sums? With the PBGC rate going away, will lump sums under the old pension be devastated? Seems like people who were let go may be better off if they take their money asap?
