Let's face it, with the pandemic, O&G sector in its twilight and this company being what it is - it's more than obvious that nobody should make any long-term plans regarding their employment at Marathon Oil. I know this is not the best time for it, but every single one of us should already be job searching. I know it's been said before but let me reiterate: it's always easier finding a job when you already have one.

Cheer up. We're in a major bust at the moment and it's tough. Oil was dead in the 90s and then people could get here quick enough in the mid-00s and early-10s. Marathon is in a decent place as a company, all things considered.
Companies and people will have to adapt or they will die. IF you can survive, then you'll be glad you stuck it out. Keep you skills up to date. Build a good network. Save your money.
I don’t agree with that nonsense! They’re done laying off. Everyone that’s left is here to stay for the long haul—there’s a reason they kept us on payroll and let the others go...
Unless your career path is totally oil and gas dependent the job market isn’t too bad in Houston. Marketing, IT, accounting, maintenance, Procurement jobs are available everywhere. If you are in position to move industries now is the time. I know of many who are looking and planning to leave after the new year. Don’t feel trapped. Start looking and you’ll find something.
