Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

Bonuses??

Anybody heard anything on bonus payouts? I know there's an HR meeting next week to discuss results but thing are pretty tight lipped. What should we be expecting?

Bonuses were not that bad to be honest. I assumed we would get way less!

My understanding was anyone eligible got their standard bonus in2018, then their were some targeted individuals who got an additional bonus with the repay provision. Not sure if that extra bonus was performance based, or if they picked people they thought might be flight risks.

A repay provision on a bonus sounds so tacky and desperate. Wasn’t here in 2018. I did notice a lot of ppl quit in 2019.... it’s all making sense now.

As a reminder, bonuses in 2018 had a repay provision.

How do the make you repay a sign on bonus if you don’t stay as long as you agreed? Do they kindly request it lol or deduct it from your last paycheck?

How do they make you return it? Hold from last pay check? Asking for a friend.

I suppose if not for having to wait around for thrift/pension to fully vest and having to return sign on the vast majority would be voluntarily out the door

I heard that the company was asking employees to give back. Ford introduced a new Raptor and Lee needs some help to purchase.

Being someone who left MRO, I love reading these threads but misery of my former colleagues makes me sad. Best advice I can give you is leave as soon as you can. I do not know one person who has left and been unhappy. Even take less pay if it means you are happier. Other employers are not like Marathon. You do not have to live in fear. Take a leap.

A repay provision?!?! Is Marathon that broke or are they that desperate to keep people? The lengths this company is willing to go to give their employees the sh*t end of the stick becomes more unbelievable by the day.

After CEO was specifically identified on the WSJ as being overpaid, bonus will be below target. Check out article. 10/2/2020.

It's going to be 30% of target payout across the board with a repay provision if you leave in the next year. You're welcome.
