Two days notice???

I got laid off on September 2020 after about 10 years working for Dell in Santa Clara, Ca. They gave me only two days notice??? Because of pandemic, no face to face meeting so i can ask my questions. Just a cold phone call. I'm 60 years old with... — read more

Layoffs

Yes layoffs have started. The first round was last month around the third week. I was laid off. Have received my separation agreement docs. Sent the signed docs but have yet to receive my severance.

Wall of Shame

Anyone else shudder at the "Wall of Shame" speech re Powerstore Sales Funnel? Publishing a global shame file for anyone who's customers aren't using PS?

WFR Separation Agreement Help

I noticed that the last paragraph on the separation agreement states that the doc must be signed and returned by close of business on the 13th day. Since COB is mentioned should we only count business days? Sales reps were somewhat encouraged to... — read more

Have layoffs started?

I heard they're already notifying people who are affected. Is this true or just fear talking?

It would be nice if we knew when severance was coming

With no paycheck last week and no unemployment either it’s going to get really tight soon... an email or something indicating severance will be paid on such and such a date would be helpful to many I’m sure. Jobs are out there, I wish everyone luck! — read more

Question about COBRA

I read the agreement where Dell will pay for COBRA for 2 months. After the 2 months is up, has anybody continued with COBRA or find another insurance carrier while still looking for job?

Didn’t Dell sell a ton of computers during COVID?

Closed offices, salespeople no longer expensing travel, capped internal movement pay and promotions, stopped contributing to 401k. There are incompetent people still employed but I’m now paying $2000k a month for insurance during a pandemic.

How long before severance payment received?

Just curious if anyone knows how long it takes between sending back the signed paperwork and receiving the severance payment, any ideas? I know they have up to 30 days but I am hoping it doesn't take that long...

Non-Compete?

I’ve heard there are non-competes, even for people getting WFR’d is there anywhere we can confirm that?

I hope DELL HR is reading!!!!!!

I’m so sorry for all Dell folks who list their job especially those 50+. These folks may have just paid for kids college, are helping aging parents, and trying rebuild savings to prepare for retirement themselves, WFR could devastate them as it’s... — read more

Why is anybody surprised by this?

Layoffs are nothing new at Dell. Now, a big round might be unusual for sure but small, sporadic layoffs have been taking place on weekly bases for a couple of years now. Anybody who's been paying attention knows this by now. So learning that this... — read more

I need some positive stories

Any chance I can get people who are in their fifties and up who were laid off and found a new job with similar pay to share their stories?

WFR Profile?

In your experience what is the profile of those who have been WFR'd the last few months? Managers? Techies? 40/50+ etc?

Take advantage

Good thing in all of this is that Dell name still carries significant weight and it's still a major asset on your resume. If you are applying for jobs, chances are it'll be a major plus if you still work here. Now is the perfect time to take... — read more

Was anybody told to reapply?

A question for those who were laid off last week: has anybody been told they could reapply after some time has passed? A friend who was affected said his manager might have hinted at something like that to him, but I think that’s just wishful... — read more

Three Questions Please.

Three Questions Please. Can you still get unemployment if you get a severance? If so, does the severance reduce your unemployment amount? Was there any additional severance for employees over 50 years of age? Seems like it might take... — read more

Question about the Tech Industry

During my time at Dell, it never felt quite right. I am curious if the story they told about the constant reorg-ing is true? Every couple of months my role changed or I got a new manager (or both). In fact the first day I started I discovered my boss... — read more

Learning Experience

After being impacted on Wednesday, I have felt a range of emotions. But thankfully I will be ok financially. One of the reasons why is because Massachusetts requires PTO to be paid out in the last paycheck and I didn’t realize right away that my last... — read more

Dell IT @Roundrock -Shameful

I understand companies have to tighten belt at bad times. I cannot blame Dell for that. But Jeff Clarke, you told folks will be treated with dignity. However what happened is anything but dignified. You fired a bunch US citizens while 80 percent or... — read more

Those left now are screwed too in many cases...

As awful as it is that good people were let go, the people on their teams who are still there in many cases will be expected to do their current work plus the work of the people that were let go. The work doesnt go away. Especially awful if you... — read more

What are the terms of the WFR?

I saw a document that mentioned 2 weeks per year of service + 75% of bonuses vesting in the 90 days after termination. Can anyone confirm this?

November

I heard layoffs could continue through November. Some groups are being asked to fill out questionnaires listing what they spend their time on, each day.

That's life in these big corps - for better and for worse
