Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Lower cost is a driver in layoff decisions

This nonsense about low performers, sure it’s a factor.
It’s about money and if they like you or you’re related.
Performance is not going to matter if you stay, when you have double the work and are next out the door. Lower cost is a driver in these decisions.

If Dell can outsource your role for less cost see ya

@gvq+1kZZoI9m gets it right.

"What you said is reasonable…but you can’t create the ID “Dell HR” and have us all accept is as gospel."

Only as it relates to ISG - IDK about the other orgs -- legacy dell does things different, so your cool aid could vary

Weird how everyone who is on the layoffs list every single time is consultant or senior consultant. (or equivalent top level IC)

Hmmm I wonder why that could be……

Low cost is a driver yes. Managers were told to:

  1. Cut anyone on a PIP or has been on a coach plan in the last year
  2. Consider anyone who cost is $$ you can do without

Anyone (like you) who says this cost is the only factor is an outsider or dreaming. No manager is going to pass up the opportunity to exit their problems and low performers. Don't kid yourself.

That said, option #2 is also 100% a consideration, and there WILL be good people on the cut.
