Hoping for another round

Voluntary would be preferable. I was hoping to be cut in the last round but no luck. I know several people who feel the same way I do. Sadly, this is usually how these things go. People who want out are not affected and those who need their jobs end... — read more

More layoffs this year

What are the chances of more layoffs before the end of the year? I'm convinced that we're safe for now but some of my coworkers are convinced it's only a matter of weeks before another major round is announced. I hope I'm not an id--t for believing... — read more

ECA role is untenable.

If it wasn’t bad enough that they just banded people together without the required skill, and rebranded all these folks as ECA’s (many were project managers without the technical skills), but then they spread them too thin, like not enough butter on... — read more

The Elephant in the Room. Why is Safra still at Helm?

Doctoring numbers and has an elite squad or rejects under her. What gives? Has their been a more ineffective leader in the last decade? Elizabeth Holmes comes to mind but at least she was pushing a product people want.

Exit strategy and terminations

Larry and Safra need a exit strategy to cash out, it’s as simple as that. The alignment to Microsoft and LinkedIn is a strategic move much like Cerner. The only way for them to cash out is to merge or be acquired. It’s possible it could be Google as... — read more

You can’t put 10 gallons through a 5 gallon pipe!

Wise words from my manager, but now, with so many of the great and experienced sales engineers gone to the competition, he is now having to double up on my accounts, telling me that it would be good for my career. I’ll take my medicine, but don’t... — read more

Who’s next, and when?

With the start of Q2 will layoffs start right away, or wait until after the Labor Day weekend? Who’s next to the sl------r house? We still need a general cut of superfluous VP’s and mid level management. Are consumption goals being achieved? ... — read more

O trying to manage ACX layoff fiasco

Competitors are using LinkedIn posts from laid off folks to spread FUD. Any cost savings are going to go towards managing this mess now. Hopefully tech companies now understand the power of the social media tools they themselves help create in... — read more

Salary disparity in Oracle

The Curse of IT industry is trustworthy and long term employees are paid lower than new comers. Oracle stand by giving 2x or 3x times different to new employees compared to incumbents. The new employees just shadow you . Our hikes and promotions are... — read more

Q2 starts Thursday

How many will still be here to see Q3, whether it is our choice or theirs? If you are looking, congratulations, and leave a note to encourage others.

It is crucial to have skills up to date

I don't intend to stay here much longer. I am questioning whether I have the right skills to meet the prospective employer's needs. Why are there so many who say that their skills have atrophied here?

RSUs

Been allocated RSUs for the first time. Could anyone help me understand the T&Cs for that? Have not yet received an email about it. Hence, I am asking. TIA.

Hesitant to leave?

Oracle has been losing top technical talent for many years, commonly known to us all as "brain drain". And while I am sure that there is still top talent still at O, I know for a fact there are also still a lot of bozos there as well. For a long... — read more

Embarrassed to admit I work for Oracle

We're down to the best of the best

Things that have changed at Oracle since I joined

In a little over a decade, the number of good workers has gone down significantly, the amount of work we're expected to do for the same pay has gone up, as have stress levels due to constant layoffs. The quality of management has gone down... — read more

Why are you selling yourself short?

It is surprising to see how many people here write that they accepted lower paid jobs just to get out of Oracle as soon as possible. Personally I don't know anyone who agreed to a less lucrative offer, everyone got much better offers.
