Is it really the elephant in the room anymore? Is it a value add when you just create extra work to validate your existence and add work to teams that are already understaffed? We all know it’s to validate the existence of SB but this is just getting out of hand. Every week they recreate work that our teams are already doing. We have to pivot and adjust to keep up with this nonsense. WE don’t want your “help.” They create processes that aren’t efficient just to “look busy.” BTW - we have a procurement team that will manage POs from start to finish. In fact they do this for the ENTIRE company. I prefer to go to them! It’s simple. So why does SB want to hoard unnecessary work that creates a layer for everyone else? One guess - JM could never admit that her team doesn’t add any value. Instead we all have to drop what we are doing when they pull something new and inefficient out of their hat. They’ve run out of work and now they are digging for things. Get over it! Admit the work is fake and you are trying to take other peoples work to make yourself look “busy.” Insert eye roll here!

Are there layoffs coming ?
Will the business survive ?
Research: Job Cuts Often Fail; Other Business Methods
Many companies implement layoffs during economic uncertainty. Evidence suggests layoffs frequently fail to achieve lasting financial benefits. They can also significantly harm employee morale, innovation, and customer loyalty. Many leaders now consider other options instead of job cuts. Companies like Southwest and AT&T successfully used reskilling, furloughs, or reduced hours.

Virus
Do we see this virus becoming a US issue and potentially another pandemic?
Do we think the bank will do something different compared to last time
Richmond and El Segundo
The west coast refineries run a lot of Middle East crude slates, their on hand stocks are probably good for a week or so depending on where they on the resupply cycle. Assume there is some business continuity plan for supply disruptions.
The new shiny object effect
Every new manager believes that the only way to show impact is to “start from scratch”. Most of the time they just repeat old mistakes but because they are surrounded by their newly minted hires, no one is there to tell them we tried this 15 years ago and arrived at the same conclusion so you might want to do this and that. This is so painful to watch at times. Forcing out experienced hires to make space for “cheaper” brand new hires only to relish old mistakes and call it new learnings. Not sure if business continuity is any better at Exxon, Shell, and others. And by the way those old mistakes can be very costly.
Layoffs and Business Continuity
With the holidays coming up and all these much need layoffs being executed, how is the business continuity planning going, Alvind ? Shareholders should ask the question and you continually lie whenever you go in front of the media to talk about layoffs :

Net hiring up ? where exactly ? India as usual ? Who gives a darn when you are running a public American company and Americans are being laid off. Your compensation and those of your Pipmunks needs to be re-balanced (downward direction) for your failures. You are getting excessive compensation for your lack of management. As a CEO, you are an abject failure, not a great employee. And you contradict yourself in the same interview and you know it. You are an excess to IBM requirements.
How is the Company Still Here?
Nearly 6 years ago when the pandemic began, it looked like Sears and Kmart were going to go under... so how are they still in business almost 6 years later??
IT Needs a Serious Change
I have been part of the business for nearly two decades, and it’s clear that the IT department is in need of a significant overhaul. The current approach of allowing offshore teams to make critical decisions is creating disconnects with our actual business needs.
Recently, a data engineer who had been associated with AAP for 11 years on contract was let go with very short notice. Before his departure, he was required to train other team members for several months — far beyond a standard knowledge transfer. This decision not only undermines morale but also poses a serious risk to business continuity.
From a humanitarian perspective, the timing of this decision is concerning, as finding new employment during November and December is extremely challenging. When employees feel insecure about their positions, their performance and commitment inevitably suffer.
Hurricane Season
For those of us still in South Florida, hurricane season is here ! The Forecasters are predicting some big storms this fall with a couple of potential direct monster hits to Florida east coast. How many days will Boca be closed with the storms and it makes no sense to have a critical facility for disaster recovery in hurricane alley. Can’t get everything moved to the cloud fast enough before the layoffs storms hit.
