Post layoff beer

Where are we going after we get our sweet severance money to give GF the double bird toast? Unified or Active ingredient? Or Bentleys? Any other suggestions?

Wrong steps and strategy in GF

TC has been trying his level best to befool us, Mubadala and now investors. It is clear that GF is fundamentally not able to sustain itself and will continue to resort to layoffs as easy way to make numbers look good for wal street. IPO that was... — read more

Anyone else hoping to get laid off with 3 to 6 months of total pay? A little motivation and cushion while you look for a better company to give your time and energy to.

While you were distracted..

PB and many on his staff were promoted in role, a couple of months ago on top of JS boasting about rapid hiring... Ops, now we need to reduce OpEx! Lets layoff 5% of the people vs undo all these promotions or de-band many 10+'s. Promo's at... — read more

Will WARN be triggered in Malta this round?

My hunch is it will be just 249 people and won’t be triggered. Didn’t know if anyone has inside info willing to anonymously share. Would make us calmer if WARN is triggered so have more warning

I don't know if that's good or bad

The fact that the layoffs were announced earlier is good in the sense that some may have managed to get new jobs during this time. On the other hand, announcing layoffs without giving details and leaving employees in great uncertainty is, in my... — read more

F8 AllHands 12/15

Interesting how they’re apparently not going to record this one. Does this timing support the theory that they’ll execute the walkouts on Tuesday/Wednesday? I assumed E shift would at least get to stay until Friday, but maybe not.

Trust is destroyed

After all this, I don't believe that anyone has trust in leadership anymore. Their terrible way of management, all the lies we have heard have led to an atmosphere of mistrust in this company. How will they later restore the lost trust? It will be... — read more

Bigger worry is- Layoff is going to be an instrument

It is clear that Tom is using Layoff as an instrument to make numbers like good to Wall Street. Is not this end of the GF story then? In Globalcast only thing I got was that reduction will improve operating margin..really??? Does this mean that we... — read more

Main target groups?

I am interested in who will be the main targets, although it is not wise for anyone to assume that they will be safe.

Uncertainty of the next days

I still haven't received a meeting invite. I am worried because my children's education depends on this job. If I understood correctly, the uncertainty of whether I will be cut in this round will last until Thursday next week?

Do we know the date? Will people get “meeting invites” the night before?

I don't expect fair layoffs

I wish it won't be like that, but I'm guessing that the main target will be those who really do their job well, while those who keep low profile and are here on autopilot will somehow manage to keep their jobs.

How will all this look after the cuts?

The only reason I would like to survive these cuts is that it is much easier to find a job when you already have a job. I wonder what GF will look like after the cuts? It is obvious that there is no plan to fill the gap and that the survivors will... — read more

Axing Phoenix to save cost

Such a fanciful project coined for their own job security for 5 years and beyond and still in visioning stage after more than a year. This deserves to be axed to save the hundreds of millions.

Will new hires be the first to go?

Normally I would assume so, but since it was mentioned that they would be targeting executives/management specifically I'm not so sure.

Next week or 12th?

Seen in press next week, then seeing 12th thru 16th. Is it that managers know next week or impacted know or what?
