Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

How long before it's over?

Before we can say for sure layoffs are done and we can stop stressing over it?

Currently most shifts and days have had actions complete. Unless you're on a shift that is yet to start action is pretty much done.
Obviously DRS will not know until the new year per previous announcements.
To all that remain, good luck in finding your new position.

Nobody in 2018 sat on the site for 90 days but the number of people laid off was published on the WARN state site.

The waiting and stress is the worst part of it, all the while being miserable at your job.

I’ll put money on this board getting real active again in 6 months time.

And I’m guessing almost everyone if not a majority signed the “in lieu of warn notice” waiver in 2018. Because I certainly don’t remember folks sitting around the site waiting 90 days

They did it this way and activated WARN with the pivot in 7nm. It was over 700 in Malta impacted

With a Warn notice, a rapid response team from either state/federal DOL gets triggered and opens the company to regulatory oversight during the Warn period. That means DOL is on-site counseling and offering retraining programs at the company’s expense. When payment is made “in lieu of warm notice” to the employee, there aren’t WARN regulations and additional costs to the employer. IBM used to skirt the warm act as do other large companies. Handling it all nice and neat in house. Besides, what employee is going to do their work while under warn notice, when they can go offsite to retraining and employment counseling, while getting paid?

Why would they care about warn if they are giving three months pay? That is the main negative of warn

If you want to stay at GF, get used to layoffs. This was the norm at IBM and those folks now run GF.

This round will finish up by tomorrow morning. My guess is the next round will be early Q2 2023. Think they are splitting it up to avoid NY Warn act..

Wait for the Thursday all hands, but i'm 90% sure it's gonna be done by the 16th since the 17th March is the "termination date" 90 days after they take our badge
