Reason for layoff

I would have preferred that they didn't give me any reason for cutting me, than the explanation I got which makes no sense and which only frustrated me even more. I am very self-critical, but what was stated as the reason for layoff is absolute nonsense.

What did they give you as a reason?

We lost some of the best and hardest working technical contributors and team workers from my team. They were not by any means the highest paid team members either. They all had one thing in common: they challenged the horrendous manner the team had been mismanaged and abused by our utterly incompetent manager . Pure and simple abuse of power which exemplifies how This rotten company GF is run.

Cost-saving measures was the official statement, but I had been looking to go elsewhere. That wasn't mentioned, but my manager probably knew what I was doing.

My group seemed to be new to GF, but not newer than 1 month, as well as not having advanced degrees. Seems like you're safer if you're in the middle

All of the stuff our managers say with respect to compsny wide directives and agendas and systems are illogical. Take compass and yearly goals and reviews. That whole system is a lie. And for sake of argument let’s say it wasn’t. Well if you drill down on it and it works and integrates into careers, promotions and raises, it a very best is illogical.

This whole resource action/layoff event has really exposed Globalfoundries in all areas that their explanations for nearly every really fundamentally don’t add up.

They gave me no reason. I didn't ask for one. They just told me I was impacted. I complained to them that its the director (someone 3 levels above me) and HR director rather than direct boss and HR business partner. The direct boss and his boss just walked me to the HR room. The HR director did all the talking.

I was told that it was a financial decision and that my position was impacted. I was at the top of my pay scale for my level. Guess that was the main reason. Another reason is that the department will be fine without me. Lol

Do not allow GF boilerplate talking points dictate your worth.

You are awesome and you were not fired due to your performance. You were fired due to poor performance of the leadership decision makers.
