Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

There are better opportunities out there

I feel sorry for everyone who was laid off in these difficult times. Being laid off is one of the most stressful moments one can experience. It may not be very comforting, but... most of us can get better opportunities outside of GF.
I am still anxious whether they will tell me that I am no longer needed, but it helps when I remember all those who left here and who are now much better off than they were here. I don't know anyone who is in a worse position after leaving GF. Good luck everyone!

Yes let this be a lesson to everyone. Even those who were not impacted to have your eyes open! Globalfoundries is sleazy sneaky toxic employer. People will say it’s the same anywhere you go. It’s not! GF is magnitudes worse. All the same problems at other places are ten fold worse at Globalfoundries.

So please prepare. This cycle will come and repeat again soon. Have your own contingency plan ready. Globalfoundries is clearly unstable and can not finically sustain itself with current business model and leadership.

I got let go. To be honest I wasn’t happy at GF for a good while. The layoff package is actually really good. I got 6 months total pay, Q4 bonus and 7 months total health coverage. 3 months existing then 4 months of a Cobra. I won’t bad mouth Global but I don’t think they are heading in the right direction. I’m certain there will be more layoffs and restructuring in the near future. Getting the boot in the a-s was just the motivation I needed to start over. 6 months pay is a nice payday. I’m looking forward to working for a different company with a better company culture. To all my former coworkers, it was a pleasure working with you. You are a good group of people. I wish you luck and know you all will be successful.

These layoffs and the packages are right from the IBM playbook. GF IBM managers cannot even come up with an original idea. What happened to IBM manufacturing let that be the guide.
