Anyone think GRS1 is a waste of headcount?

We recently implemented GRS1 in Baytown and it’s a clusterF. No need to have that many SLS level staff in the organization. There used to be 1 SLS and 1 or 2 DAY FLS and that worked just as fine. Management preaches GRS1 makes us more reliable... — read more

Anybody else worried?

If they just announced 20 percent cuts in Europe where unions are strong and they can't cut as indiscriminately as they can in the U.S., what exactly do they have in store for us? Whatever happens oversees, chances are it's going to be much worse... — read more

I don’t get it

Shareholder here not an employee ... In 2023-24, XOM will have 340K bbl/day of the lowest cost non-OPEC oil flowing in right when the world is recovering from COVID. And yet the stock keeps collapsing, am I am the mo–n who can’t see the... — read more

Vacation lump sum payment

Anyone know when that is coming? I took the PIL in July, still waiting for the vacation lump sum

When will we get the US announcement?

They just announced Europe, sounds like 20% overall, some pretty deep cuts with F&L, though. What about the US? Will we hear this week, next week, or sometime after?

Seeking Advice to Early Career Engineer

Been with the company for 3 years, joined as campus hire with mechanical engineering degree. I work about 10-12 hours almost every day, sometimes on weekend as well. I was ranked middle. Even not being PIP-ed, seeing colleagues with great... — read more

Will they reduce headcount too much to function?

There is room for a lot of people to go (between excess layers of management and useless work) but if they lay off a lot of folks, and then a lot of good folks leave voluntarily because the company has no strategy or ethics, will those who stay... — read more

What do SLS do all day?

Seems odd to me that the contact engr and technical folks do not report directly to the Business Team. Understand you need SLS to handle PIP, PADP, but seems inefficient. Don't know what they do most of the day.

European Forum

Anybody got any information on what was announced in Brussels? Apparently the sh*t has hit the fan but the room door is still locked and one can't see yet the damage...

The whole industry has lost its way

Is it just me, or does this entire industry has the same strategy: lay off experienced employees in an attempt to fix issues created by lousy leadership that has no idea what its doing? I know people who work for other O&G companies, and they are... — read more

Don't Get Pushed Around

EM managers are bullies. And like all bullies, when you stand up to them, their tail goes between their legs and they leave you alone. Do your job without fear, and you'll do it well. We all have a choice. We all will land on our feet. Lost... — read more

BPR Training a joke?

Lots of empty talk about “integrity” and “honesty“. Sounds hypocritical... and the robotic lady providing the training is so fitting. And they hired actors... what a waste of money. Is this the only time we see Darren talking to us this year in a... — read more

Forced Retirement - age discrimination

It is common knowledge that older folks were NSI’d despite not truly being low performers. It is also common knowledge that older folks often see a year over year drop in ranking despite still performing well, under the guise of ‘you’re expected to... — read more

The worst system all around

The ranking system is the most demoralizing, inaccurate, and rigged process in all of EM. Always has been. I've participated in countless ranking sessions, and they are truly sickening. It's all about who knows who, who likes who, who can best fill... — read more

Why are people quitting?

I know of a few, and I honestly can't see an upside to it. With all the layoffs, if you want to leave isn't it a better idea to wait it out (since chances are you'll end up on one of the lists sooner rather than later) and get a severance? Even if... — read more

BTC Reality

Reading all these posts I am comforted that its not just at BTC who suffer but the whole company is like this. Yes BTC is low cost and it is sad that industry is going through this. But EM didn't even get this right.Very poor hiring from tier 3... — read more

Am I the only one who thinks we are safe for now?

Not for good, not even for the rest of the year, but at least for a while? I think it'll take at least a couple of months to see what the latest cuts have done for the company and how many more can/will be removed. It's a process, and it takes time... — read more
