Topics regarding layoffs at Ford

It's simple, really

The company started going downhill when it decided to put profits over people. It wasn't always like that, just ask anybody who's been here for a few decades. We used to have job security and we used to know that hard work would forward our career... — read more

Cutting newbies at Ford

I've only been here less than a year. Despite the job being very stressful, I'd love to keep it as long as possible. I thought Ford didn’t cut people who have only been here a few months, but I recently heard that it’s not at all unusual here. How... — read more

Does anybody know the numbers for the 2020 VSP package?

Meaning how many people took it (full-timer's) as well as how many people got laid off via contracts? Someone posted in another post that the target for VSSP is 1000. Might be a good gauge to predict who might take this years package.

Any way to avoid the offer by changing groups?

Just got my 2 years in full time and I will be turning 50 by end of this year. I got the offer yesterday and my stomach sank. Would trying to go to another department be recommended that won't be affected by the voluntary offer? At a bare minimum via... — read more

Manufacturing?

Are they offering buyouts to salary in manufacturing plants or is it just specific areas so far?

Offer takers

I wonder how many people will take the package that Ford is offering? I head they are giving a maximum of 6 months salary for people with more than 20 years of service - which is really disappointing and that is why I do not believe there will be... — read more

Lincoln drops in Luxury Brand Loyalty. Surprised?

Lincoln is a dying brand and not sure why its even considered a luxury brand. Looks like it will continue to plummet further in the rankings until its off the charts (or out of business). Fancy leather seats are not the key to a trustworthy... — read more

Gross. Also, why was the Maverick so secret?

The Maverick is just a hybrid Sport Track. It’s nothing earth shattering. When the Tesla Cybertruck comes out, no one will want a Ford truck. Also, gross about the food and cookies. Just a cheap copy of what Google has been doing for years... — read more

Desperate move to recognize revenue?

From Auto News. Looks like some financial tomfoolery is needed for 2Q. You know Ford is pushing dealer network to buy unfinished trucks and SUV’s. As stated, what dealer would floor plan a vehicle they can’t sell. Can’t fix stupid at Ford (but... — read more

VSSP offered again.........

VSSP offered again, similar to the offer 2 years ago. This time it is not company wide, only offered to "select departments". Any guesses which departments? IT would be at the top of my list.

LL4 and what that means

A friend recently received an offer of employment for an LL4 position that he is debating accepting after finding this site. He had no idea this universe existed. With all the layoffs and voluntary separation programs, should he be running for the... — read more

Rumours Are Swirling

Heard today that offers are coming very, very soon. This is from a petty reliable source who has been correct in the past. Not sure if it’s company-wide or certain groups..... stay tuned.

New Mask and Vaccine Honor System Policy

The new mask policy is interesting. You only have to wear a mask if you have not had a vaccine but there is no requirement for proof of vaccine. There is no way to ensure that this is followed. I think most people have now seen how this is working... — read more

Is meritocracy still a thing?

So far all I’ve noticed is that “top performers” are always the a-s kissers, friends, family and manager’s favorites with performance being completely ignored. How sad is that? Basically no one seems to be rewarded who puts in an honest day’s work... — read more

You need to learn to work smart

Advice from an oldtimer. Things have changed from when I was young, when working hard meant something. Now, you need to work smart. If you're too good at what you do, your superior could see you as a threat and then you're done for. Just do what you... — read more
