Former Ford CEO orders 100,000 Tesla’s for Hertz

Says volumes, doesn’t it.

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, things weren’t going so well for the rental car business as travel came to a screeching halt. Hertz – a 100+-year-old company – was forced to file for bankruptcy and sell off a large portion of its fleet to stay afloat, but as a large number of people began traveling again, a surge in demand for rental cars has been a boon for the industry. Now, just a few weeks after Hertz named former Ford CEO Mark Fields its interim CEO, the company has announced that it has ordered 100,000 Tesla Model 3 EVs to add to its fleet, and is partnering with NFL star Tom Brady for a corresponding ad campaign.

I laugh at the people who make fun of the Tesla service experience. Try owning a 2020 Explorer or other “legendary “ ford products such as Super Duties with 6.0l and 6.7 l Diesel engines , then we can have an honest conversation

Not surprised. Mark made the fatal mistake of not looking who's name is on the building. He thought he had pure autonomy up at the level, and never the case. See how they maintain these things. If you ever talked to an unbiased owner, in the event of breakdown it is an experience worse than visiting a Ford dealer.

Well we made them, stored them outside for the summer, shipped a few, and recalling them now.

Leaving Ford was a win for Fields and Tesla.

Another loss for Ford.

When has Ford recently sold 100,000 of anything other than F150s?
