Where to go from here?

I was considering leaving Exxon but not without having a new job lined up, of course. Sadly, it seems most of the companies in our field have the exact same problems as we do, so it doesn't seem like much f an improvement even when there is an... — read more

401k Match

Is the company match in effect till the last paycheck of the severance? This is for over employees with over three years in service.

Somethings fishy..............................

Somethings fishy.............................. Does anyone other than myself find it "fishy" that EM has suddenly changed a ranking system that has been in place for years. Sounds like they're setting up a LAYOFF without actually calling it what it... — read more

Is the 8% PIP’d all for the year?

Just curious. Will we see any other reductions in staff this year after the 8% that is PIP’d are gone? Or will the next round just be the bottom of next years rankings?

Have you seen your PIP?

I am over 40 and have not seen my PIP. Has anyone here seen theirs? If yes, was it before or after you accepted it?

New Hire Impact?

Currently an intern and have been trying to keep up with the topics here and I can help but to feel anxious about a career with XOM. From experience, have new hires/full time offers been impacted during times like these?

How things have changed...

Remember when excelling at your job meant you were going places at Exxon? When great work and going the extra mile were rewarded? Not anymore. Now mediocrity is not only tolerated, it's celebrated and rewarded??? While the best employees are... — read more

Most SLS's are total waste of time and money at XOM

I am not PIP'ed but I can see XOM is going down the path like Enron. If XOM wants to cut costs, they need to streamline its management hierarchy. Most SLS's have zero technical skills. Their jobs are to have endless 1:1 meetings and lower team's... — read more

PIP/legal claims/unemployment benefits:

It is surprising XM is going his route. Legal must be full of dimwits now. Rules for the unfortunate ones PIPed: 1) Do not quit, make them fire you, so you don't lose any claims & unemployment benefits 2) Apply for unemployment, all you need to... — read more

It’s NOT rocket science, it’s just business...

Walking the GE path

Most people PIP'd deserved it. Most received a needs improvement message for several years in a row. Plus were not eligible for pay raise or promotion. They should have left voluntarily. This year with 8% instead of 3% in PIP. They have no chance of... — read more

Baytown layoffs are here

Anyone in Baytown here that has been given the “option” yet? What happens to our un-used vacation? I see that LPS and GRS were great investments lately (sarcasm)

What options do you take? Do they terminate you or ask for your resignation?

Who else is losing all motivation?

The uncertainty and constant threat of layoffs has destroyed the little motivation I had left. Now it feels like it's only a matter of time before I'm show the door, and if that's the truth, then why even bother? All I'm doing now is puting in the... — read more

Class Action?

Why don’t a bunch of you PIP’d employees float the idea of a class action lawsuit with some of the big law firms. XOM’s blatant disguise of layoffs as low performance does not pass the pub test / front page of the newspaper test. For how fearsome... — read more
