Let's pretend we couldn't see it coming...again...

"We live in an economic system that is unsustainable, unjust, and exploitative. While many of us in academia and the thought industry have known this for decades, those with greater wisdom have known for centuries. Techies and disrupters think it can... — read more

Are we next?

Twitter is currently in chaos, and the situation is not ideal at Meta/Facebook either. Is Apple next to announce layoffs?

Stop Amazoning our Apple.

Modem development

Quick question: why was modem development a big fail? Is it just incompetence or are there other reasons? Thoughts?

Another year, another failure. :)

https://www.macrumors.com/2022/06/28/apple-5g-modem-failed-qualcomm-remains-supplier/ Apple failed to build a viable modem due to incompetence. Iphone 15 modem will also be fully sourced by Q in 2023. Layoffs are coming! Better leave before they... — read more

"Superstar" employees

Superstar employees should be those who are the best at their job and who in many ways are role models for others. However, here I have to put up with a few of them with superstar status who do not deserve that status at all. Are you sick of them... — read more

How do you deal with micromanagement?

I have never worked in a company where micromanagement lowers company morale and creates a hostile workplace to such an extent. I have the feeling that the manager is watching me 24/7! Is leaving the only solution?

Trillion dollar company can't afford air purifiers

This company would rather layoff people than invest in a safe work environment. Even schools have this equipment nowadays. It exposes their preferences. Either people have to work in an unsafe environment or they will be fired. Shows the worth they... — read more

Complainers vs Doers

No matter what corporate does, some people will just complain. Let them moan at home. Apple should fire them en masse. Doers will get the job done.

What is wrong with this place?

This used to be my dream job but lately this has become a company that constantly puts their employees into a situation they don't want to be in. I started looking for a way out. Apple is rapidly changing, for the worse. Just my opinion.

Why do you like working from office?

It's funny how many people here advocate RTO. I spend more on gas, I waste precious time driving, but for me too it's better to be working in the office. The reason: I work less in the office than at home. I was more productive at home, but I... — read more

Risks of hiring freeze

https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2022/07/18/apple-reportedly-plans-to-slow-hiring-amid-recession-fears/?sh=318465aa717c I understand the need for a hiring freeze, but I also think it's too risky a move as well. Anyone else?

This is step one

First, there is a slowdown in hiring (already announced). Then it's a hiring freeze in certain departments/groups. Then it's layoffs. Just look at what's been happening with Twitter and Meta, for example. I don't think it'll be as bad, but I do think... — read more

Toxic culture

I have only been here for a little over half a year and I am very disappointed. I didn’t think the atmosphere would be this toxic. My question for long time employees, has there always been a lot of negative energy here?

Should we be worried about a recession?

I joined Apple four years ago and I love my job. That's why I've been so bothered by the rumors going around about massive cuts in case of a recession. Is this likely to happen? Those who were at Apple for the Great Recession, is this what happened... — read more
