Quick question: why was modem development a big fail? Is it just incompetence or are there other reasons? Thoughts?

Mediatek and Samsung came up with good 5G modems that they are confident enough to deploy in their products and Apple continues to fail year after year?
We are simulating a modem not building a modem, just like some bought-in colleagues who simulate work rather than working.

Think this way...7 years trying to do your own WiFi chip and you still cannot do it. 5G Modem-RF front end combination is 10X more difficult than that.
Will it happen? Maybe but not in 2025 and not with the current top people. Your biggest problem are the non-QCOMers. Seriously, I talked to one of you folks and he asked me if QCOM is a process oriented company. The tone was of despise. Do not take me wrong, as an engineer I do not like that cr-p either and I would rather do more fun stuff. In reality that is the very reason we will always beat your sorry a-s hands down: PROCESS.
We do not take chances and we generally have 1.0 production ready (2.0 are a rarity). You are with that cr---y solution from intel at what...30.0 and still not working? you have a very long way to go for us even to see you in the mirror.
Apple is a great company but doing silicon is not the same as doing phones especially nowadays. I heard the most absurd things when I talked with some of your folks. It looked to me very much a university environment. You are the underdog in silicon but you behave as you are a primadonna and that is why you will keep failing.

RF is the stumbling block. The vector DSP processor is a piece of cake.
It wasn't a failure. Q has a stranglehold on patents and is too good to compete with.
MNO certification with performance standards set by Q is undoable.
