Don't know, how many of us here are IT, but when I've heard about new TRUMP fee for indian workers - I started liking my president.
Currently the ratio if indian:non-indian in our IT is 9:1, and the major drawback of that (excepr the reverse discrimination) is knowledge leaking abroad and lower earnings level in the US.
Time and time again I saw indians cominfg in for a year or two, being traned and then replaced by their new "friends" - leading to constant training and losses.
What do you think?

It's still worth another 100k for a H1B employee. They can replace 4 current employees (trump tards)
IT workers should have unionized 30 years ago. Good at programming they are, smart about history and the future, they aren't.
I agree with @eq
I have seen few managers go out for lunch/dinner with vendors. It’s worth examining the motivations behind corporate decisions like these and recruiting internationally or offshoring/near shoring jobs. These are often framed as cost saving strategies, which can raise valid questions about fairness and transparency. It’s reasonable to ask whether managers implementing these measures are personally benefiting through promotions, bonuses, or pay increases tied to the savings. Open dialogue about these decisions can shed light on how they align with company goals and affect employees at all levels. Encouraging accountability ensures these strategies prioritize long term organizational success over short-term individual gains.
@eq I am guessing that you did not get EXCEED/EXCEED in your annual performance reviews and not WHITE. Maybe instead of worrying about what you are, concentrate more on your performance. Do you think that BOA will discriminate people based on their ethnicity? I am WHITE and get MEET/MEET on performance reviews and EXCEED/EXCEED far few in between. Guess what, no promotions. What I do know is that non-WHITEs get more special considerations in their performance reviews in support of diversity and inclusion initiatives at BOA.
- Did you ever ask your White manager why they are recruiting Indians?
- Did you ever ask your White manager why they are sending jobs offshore/nearshore?
1 & 2 above are cost saving measures
now...
- Did you ever ask your White manager if he/she is getting promoted because of 1 & 2 above?
- Did you ever ask your White manager how much bonus/pay hike they are getting because of 1 & 2 above?
Not being political with my response.
Articles are stating this will ultimately result in further expansion / investing in India locations for additional offshoring of jobs to avoid this fee. JPM, WF, and us are cited as notable users of India locations for tech support and other “back office” services.
Unless if US companies are going to see increased fees for offshoring US located jobs, all this is going to do is accelerate the process, sadly..
@d9 My spouse works at Bank of America and I retired from another company in IT. What you have stated is partially true as the programs are needed on a limited basis as long foreigners do not have access to Production data to include American employees. This was a problem with the company that I retired from and I will guarantee that it is a problem at Bank of America. You have to wonder how many scammers are from outside the country and where they got the information. Furthermore, word of mouth that compromise in data is not an issue does not guarantee our financial security.
BTW...I was checking this site as my spouse heard a rumor of possible layoffs at Bank of America.
First, I am not upset with the H1B visa holders. If I was in their position and had that opportunity, I would do something similar. But the time has come for that program to stop being abused by employers like Bank of America, JP Morgan etc. The original intent was to fill in jobs where qualified people were not in great supply in the United States, or some extreme expertise on some subject was necessary, but that time is over. At least in the tech area it is. There is a glut of technical workers born in the US and so that supply problem does not exist for the most part. Also, we all know that companies abuse these workers because they know they don't have any alternative but to take the abuse. It is time to tighten up the program for the government side to force employers to do the right thing IMHO. If this administration claims to care for the American people , then they will push for H1B and offshoring reform. I don't think either should stop, but the abuse of them must stop.
